Default Funk Metal

Epic is just Epic concerning funk rock. This should be the theme for funk metal.

Funk metal (also known as thrash funk, or punk-funk) is a subgenre of funk rock and alternative metal that fuses elements of heavy metal and funk. Cultural origins during the mid 80s.

I suppose this can be called funk metal. Loved this song when it came out in the early '90s but I don't remember what the rest of the album was like.

Living Color was an all black New York based band that a hard edged metal version of funk music. They were around in the late 80s and early 90s and reunited for a couple of years in the early 2000s. The players were excellent musicians and they built a large and loyal following.

The guitar player Vernon Reid is still a much sought after session musician and he has gigged with Ronald Shannon Jackson's experimental jazz outfit, Defunkt, Public Enemy, as well as issuing a solo album with jazz guitar wunderkind Bill Frisell

What a great band. I wonder what happened to them? All AMC writes about their dissolution is " The inability to settle on a single musical direction caused friction between the members, leading to Living Colour's demise in early 1995." I think Living Color was as good as any metal band of the era.

Here's a 1993 performance of Ignorance Is Bliss on the David Letterman Show:

Cult of Personality received fresh exposure in 2011 used as entrance music for professional wrestler CM Punk. They performed the song live during Punk's entrance at WrestleMania 29 of this year.

Like most bands these days, for enough money and exposure, you can more than likely hire them?

Infectious Grooves is basically Suicidal Tendencies playing some amazing funky metal, just incase you didn't know. They have 4 albums, all of which I highly recommend.
