Default Aretha Franklin

Okay, this is a leftover from The Virgin's days as a primadonna troll. Despite his atrocious music tastes and generally skewered views on music, he did make one valid point - why is there no thread on Aretha?

Without the Queen of Soul, you probably won't have divas such as Beyonce and Mariah today.

I got her first five albums and they're all ace. I heard some of her later albums, and they're not as good, though some songs are enjoyable.

So I'll be the first to make a toast to her here...

(although I much preferred Bomb the Bass' "I Say a Little Prayer" to hers)
