I think Lovers Rock is her most consistent album--overlooked by most (no big radio hits), but anyone who isn't biased against soft music should enjoy it.

Great album from the group Sade. Loved Smooth Operator at the time, it showed the great variety in pop that there was in the British charts back then. Most of the other tracks are probably more towards soul than pop but very consistent album. Sade herself came from London but most of the rest of the group I think came from Hull.

Iv'e been a huge Sade fan for several years. I have all her records and just got done seeing her for the 3rd time in Seattle last night! I think she is simply an amazing singer/song writer. A far cry from all the factory bands being pumped out today. Whether singing a soft acoustic ballad like 'Jezebel' or a upbeat dance/RnB track like 'Soldier of Love' she handles it with flawless ease.

If anyone questions her vocal/singing talent, watch a video of a live performance of 'Is It A Crime' and that should put to rest any doubts. : )

Listening to "The Sweetest Taboo", always takes me back to the Florida Gulf in the early 80s and summer nights.

Beautiful vocal harmonies on Hang On To Your Love.

Even as a young metalhead in the 80's Sade was a guilty pleasure of mine (other will have to be drug out of me using Bush administration tactics). I remember triumphantly going up to my mom and telling her there actually WAS someone as mesmerizing as Astrud Gilberto (i.e., "Girl from Ipanema", "Quiet Nights", etc). It wasn't bossa, but it was nice.

Those that like Sade should give Bic Runga a listen. Again, not the same musical fusion, but a beautiful voice linking it all together.
