Intro to Soul Compilation
Would anyone be interested in this if I did one? A nice mix of essential Soul tracks plus a few lesser known ones to let peple know what they can expect from this great field of music?
It would be most appreciated I'm sure, but we have a thread for things like intro comps.
http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...ers-guide.html You wouldn't mind if it was moved there would you? |
Or you could start a journal in here Toe...Members Journal - Music Banter
Was just going to do a few compilations of mixed artists, rather than write about them so I don't think a journal would be worth it.
I like my Soul music but have gaps for sure. I would be interested to hear a comp.
I'm down for it. Just tell me where you guys are moving this bitch.
I'm definitely down for this too, actually I've been wanting something like this for a while now.
I'm big on my soul these days so i'm sure i'll be sniffing anything out.
Never forget the immortal JH Funk comps though please!
mb_funk.rar - Ten Funky Ass treats - BADONGO Funk_Number_Two.rar - More bad ass riffs - BADONGO |
This would only be a basic intro, so if you're remotely familiar with it then I wouldn't be surprised if ya knew all tracks, not gonna be much to discover for non-beginners.
Nonetheless, let's see whatcha got.
I'm not new to soul music, but I'd definitely download and listen to it if you did make a comp.
I could use a very basic intro comp as well. Looking forward to it already.
I'd download that.
I'd download that hard. |

If anyone is wondering about the lovely cheesy cover, it's from a fake commercial in Coming to America

For some reason, one of my fave lines from it is 'his momma called him Clay, I'mma call him Clay'
Man, chunky comp. Could tell the list would be good straight from the first track though! Downloading now.

I've been listening to this thing every time I go anywhere in my car, and I have to say it's amazing driving music. No matter what mood I'm in it for some reason always makes me feel better. At first all the songs blended together, like it was an instrumental compilation, but as I passively listened more each individual song began to gain it's own personal definition. Lyrically I only know about the first six songs, which isn't much. It was enough, however, for me to notice how corny the lyrics are. Not that they're about corny things, it just feels like something my mom would listen to. In fact, my mom was dancing in my car to it. =/ Unfortunately now we have some similarity in tastes, but I never come around to Barbra Streisand.
Something tells me this isn't like amazing music, like it wouldn't compare much up against some of my favorite albums... but damnit I've been choosing this compil. over an opportunity to listen to those albums for days straight now. I just have a soft spot for this shit. So, anyway, thanks for making the compilation. I really am thoroughly enjoying it, and, in fact, I even burned myself a two disk CD of it so I'll have it on me just for whenever. I'm currently getting the studio stuff good old Otis put out while he was alive, and hopefully that holds up just as well. I just hope this doesn't become an addiction. |
Fantastic work on a basic but thorough soul compilation, sorry I've overlooked it for so long!
