It goes deeper than that too. That album opened the door and encouraged artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield and the O'Jays to exersize some freedom with their music, while the production on the album set the sound for 70's soul.
'Hot Buttered Soul' should be in everyone's top 10.
