Amy Winehouse

Loving this.

Any fans?

I want to know more.

right-track 11-11-2006 06:56 AM

Bump...c'mon on people. :(
This girls still young and already there are comparisons to Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald and she's English!
Such a soulful voice.

Incredible potential.

Urban, you and her have a lot in common...she yelled "shut the fuck up" at Bono, when he begin making his acceptance speech at the Q awards.

cardboard adolescent 11-12-2006 11:50 AM

I watched the video and it's not really my thing but whatever.

A little too upbeat for me.

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-12-2006 12:02 PM

I heard a couple of her songs a while ago & didn`t really think much to her but that seems totally different.

Laces Out Dan! 11-12-2006 12:24 PM

This is the first ive heard of her, and she is actually really good.

swim 11-12-2006 12:34 PM

She's talented but, it's not something I'd regulary listen to.

Laces Out Dan! 11-12-2006 12:36 PM

^Exactly.

right-track 11-12-2006 12:47 PM

It has a genuine old Motown feel about it. A sound I never thought would be reproduced quite like that again.
The musicians on this track are spot on. Great brass, even smatterings of strings in there.
This has 'hit' written all over it.
I'm gonna say this is going to be a huge success.

Violet Cookie 11-12-2006 01:42 PM

I love this song! It's so catchy and very fun to dance to!
Yup tis gonna be a big hit alright.

littleknowitall 12-30-2006 11:20 AM

I love absolutely everything about it...o.0

Alo 12-30-2006 11:37 AM

Oh my, that is one annoying voice! I had to turn it off.

Raine 12-30-2006 12:32 PM

I like her voice . . I just don't think the song fits her voice.

Which song? Rehab?
I love this womans voice and the style of song chosen here suits it.
I don't have a problem with her singing voice...it's her talking voice that gets me.

ladyluckrules 12-30-2006 05:01 PM

I love rehab, I don't turn the radio off when that song comes on.
As for amy winehouse, the hair!
The last time I saw her she was on popworld,
carving meat and making mince,
she likes handling raw meat apparently~
Oh and the time before that she was on never mind the buzzcocks, completely off her face and off to meet pete doherty after the show.

the song rehab doesn't showcase her vocal talents. I dunno. It just doesn't sound right sang by her.

bruise_violet 01-05-2007 08:04 PM

I heard Rehab and I loved it, I hardly ever love 'modern' music. I got her album today and I think she sounds fantastic, I love how she looks too.

adidasss 01-06-2007 10:34 AM

I downloaded the album, great voice/interpretation but I have to agree with someone who said it's not really what I'd listen to on a regular basis...

Emerald 01-06-2007 02:02 PM

I'm an absolutely huge fan of her, especially with the album Back To Black.

Friday 01-06-2007 02:23 PM

I dont quite know why, but I find her so attractive. She's just so appealing. Plus I love how she has actually came back with a second album which does not fit with the flow of fashionable music.

Emerald 01-06-2007 02:32 PM

She's a very attractive 'lady' (not sure lady is the right word there!), she oozes sex appeal (and I'm a female saying that!)

I don't see it...she looks like she's had to many nights out with Doherty to me.
This girl, at such a young age, is already heading for ruin.

Back to Black, in my opinion is a brilliant album, from a rare talent.
Made all the rarer because she's British. A wonderful Jazz/Soul singer with true, authentic style.
And it's great to hear that 60's sound getting an airing again.

That's a great description for the album - it's totally reviving a great 60's sound.

right-track 01-06-2007 02:55 PM

She writes most of her own songs about modern issues and that band (incredible musicians) behind her give it that raw, laid back jazz soul feel.
This is one of my favourite albums of recent years.

yeah I haven't got an album that's been in the charts recently for a long time.

And a current favourite of mine ^

She blows me away.

carladavvy 01-09-2007 01:50 AM

have you seen her sing 40 seconds of Sarah Vaughan's Tenderly on Jools Holland, her eyes are practically rolling in her head but she still pulls it off its fantastic and when she sings don't go to strangers with Paul Weller, its stunning

Sparky 06-08-2007 09:35 PM

bump

i like her:love:

The Dave 06-09-2007 03:43 PM

I've only hear Rehab but I'm looking up more at the moment. ?Rehab was a really good song, something I didn't expect to see on mtv. Her band is amazing as well.

TheBig3 06-09-2007 03:47 PM

I personally think rehab is awful. I hate whatever we're calling that sound today and for the life of me I cannot comprehend why "You know I'm no good" (or whatever the second track on Back to Black is called). I bought the album when it came out and its worth the money. Theres a taste of similarity between some tracks but they gain distance with each listen.

Point of Parliamentry Procedure: What the **** is she saying here? Video

She's bitching about her mates boyfriend going to her house and expecting to smoke her weed.

TheBig3 06-09-2007 06:23 PM

In that video shes kinda hot...and she plays guitar. Hot x2.

holdyoualways 06-09-2007 09:40 PM

i kinda like her new song
might get the album
i think she has a very interesting voice...

Raw & Funky 06-17-2007 04:28 PM

she's an artist

Strummer521 06-17-2007 05:54 PM

love her new album. I even wrote a poem about her, but I won't post it, because I hate when people just share their poetry at random times.

lesssalt 06-23-2007 10:45 PM

She is pretty good. She doesn't visually match her voice, but nonetheless. Good stuff, especially since this appears on pop radio.

boo boo 06-23-2007 11:57 PM

I'm not really into R&B that much, but what she is doing is definitely different.

lesssalt 06-24-2007 04:17 PM

She is still young. I'm looking forward to the rest of her career and it isn't conventional pop r&b, which isn't really r&b anyway.

joyboyo53 06-25-2007 12:06 PM

did anyone read her article in rolling stones? she seems like a complete flake and doesnt really give a **** about her music skipping like 50% of her gigs. i mean i know this is some journalist interpretation, but still. i think her song rehab is annoying. i mean i understand the new kinda sound, but at the end of the song you begin to think maybe she woulda been better off IN rehab and OFF the radio.

edit - not that i listen to the radio but there was a time when less stuff like that was on the radio and i did.
