Default What Are your Favourite Soul And Funk Songs ?

I hope I'm not alone in loving really good old skool dance music. These are some of my favourites-
Take Me To The Next Phase-Isleys
Is This A Love Thing -Raydio
Another Star-Stevie Wonder
Just Be Good To Me-SOS Band
Pinocchio Theory- Bootsy's Rubber Band
Say A Prayer For Two- Crown Heights Affair
I never feel down with this sort of music playing!

'Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)' is probably my all time favourite Soul track but to create a list would be damn impossible. I like a lot of smooth soul such as Al Green but I also like dirty Funk such as Cane And Able etc but I'm not much of an expert.

Here's a few of my faves...no way to list them all!

Take Me to the River - Al Green
Here I Am - Al Green
Bring it on Home to Me - Sam Cooke
Higher - Sly and the Family Stone
Dance to the Music - Sly and the Family Stone
Kiss - Prince
Love Rain - Jill Scott
A Long Walk - Jill Scott
PDA (We Just Don't Care) - John Legend
Guess the last three might be considered more neo-soul, but I love 'em!

It's good to know I'm not on my own in a time warp! Who are Cane and Able? I'm not familiar with them. I don't really get this Genre thing bacause I can't classify what I like except it sounds so good. I love Brick House- but is it Funk or Disco? I think Rose Royce is like that. They made so many brilliant dance tracks.I also love Bop Gun and Flashlight by Parliament, and I still have the LP and comic book to prove it!
