rodger martin, they say,brilliant soul from nashville, known more as a country hot spot, plenty of soul flowed out of the music city...

rance allen group, lying on the truth, on the stax label, this is took from the wattstax festival, the soul version of woodstock, this is the best gospel funk ever, what a voice, wonder why stax never put more effort into him, or did he stay true to his gospel roots.

robert parker, tip toe, quality new orleans soul, you can here the funk tip toeing through this tune, a little taste of what was round the corner...

andre williams, cadillac jack, backed by the dells, talks through most of his records, but it worked for him, recently made an album the american garage/punk outfit the dirty bombs, called the black godfather, if you like both genres you will enjoy..

wynder k frog, green door, pure 100% mod, love this version, not often the brits make a better cover of an american original,

zu zu blues band, zu zu, Dr john (mac rebennack), with some new orleans gris gross, bon ton roulette, this sold for $550 on ebay...

diggin' in the crates, there's gold in them there records..

soul city, cold hearted blues, brilliant uptempo dancer,

betty lavette, i feel good, work it baby," show me to the floor i feel good all over", you couldn't make them up, lyrics could've been scribed in the north of england during the golden era....

Lavette was badly treated in her day and deserved far more recognition than she was allowed.
Excellent spin.
The flip side wasn't bad either;

very nice mid tempo meets beat ballad, some of her(Betty lavette) early r&b/soul is the way i prefer it to be when your at a soul night, some of the soul that's played is bland, i prefer it punchy, and when a female soul singers on the money can't touch them, as when the male soul singer does a ballad same result, maybe not always but a lot of the time, just my humble opinion...
