Default Shuggie Otis

shuggie otis is one of the sadly overlooked soul artists of the early 70's. the album inspiration information from 74 that he played all the instruments on (sans horns and strings which he arranged) is one of the greatest records ever made. its the soul opus. the pet sounds of funk. i think it was sly stone who heard that record and contemplated quitting music. he was a prodigy who could play with the best of em in the time of hendrix. turned down the opportunity to join the rolling stones for the spot that ended up going to mick taylor. played bass for frank zappa.

anyone else know him?
