Default Looking for some recommendations...

...in the ol' classic 60s/70s soul/r'n'b area. I was ripping my CDs to my iTunes and noticed an alarming lack of such music. So I was just wondering if anyone here could point me in the direction of some of the greats.

I'll tell what I've got already;

The Isley Brothers - [some cheap best of comp or other]
Sam & Dave - The Best Of...
The Golden Torch Comp.
The Temptations - My Girl
Diana Ross & the Supremes - Singles Collection
Barry White - Singles Collection

And it's only the top four albums there I still listen to on a regular basis.

Any pointers would be muchly appreciated

Made in response to the prevailing funky-jam stylings of Sly and the Family Stone, it includes the 9-minute psychedelic epic 'Runaway Child, Running Wild' and a bunch of soul standards.

and this if you want some raw emotion:

Sly and the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin On
Funkadelic - One Nation Under a Groove

Pretty much the funk staples from that era.

Marvin Gaye-What's Going On
Four Tops- Any Best of
Stevie Wonder-Innervisions

...and if you want to dabble into some Funk then:

Various Superfly Soul CD

It's one of my favourite compilations ever.

Also:

Cane And Able- S/T is probably the greatest Funk album that not many people have heard of.

I like The Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. I think it's mainly some of the singles put together and released after his tragic death. I second Otis Redding Sings Soul as well
Other than that, my knowledge is limited to whatever has been posted so far.(and some names I haven't checked out yet)
