Gotta say, this band is a major grower for me. It took me a long time to fully appreciate Big BW but now I'm infatuated with it. The first one is still growing on me as well.
Seeing a band like Fat Freddy's Drop would be sublime I imagine. I need them to come to The States asap.

![]() ![]() Also throw in: Salmonella Dub Six60 Rhombus The Black Seeds Ozomatli The Cat Empire Trinity Roots Kukan Dub Lagan Transglobal Underground Some of these do sound a lot different to FFD but work on the same principle of fusing many genres together whilst still maintaining a groove as opposed to sounding like bands that lack cohesion. Salmonella Dub's Heal Me and Rhombus's Bass Player albums are definitely recommended as being similar to FFD.

Found this on my travels on the WWW and it is an official vid. The filming is awful but it really does encapsulate them live.
I have seen many, many live bands in my time and FFD are up there in my top 10 easily. Crowd participation, musical improvisation and atmosphere are all here in a crappy camera operators viewfinder! ![]() and I'm at this venue next weekend again ![]()

The first single from their new album "Blackbird" is now available for free download on their website, if anyone would like to check it out. I love it!

i saw them live in london ON. only caught three songs, but it was a hella good three songs. then i moved out west (BC) where everyone knows everyone and musicians are not special, and everyone there seems to think that the guys in this band are a buncha dicks, including my ex girlfriend who has met them. no idea if that's true, but it seems to be a kind of consensus.
edit: that being said, james brown was kind of a dick, and his funk was bomb. so who cares. |

A bunch of dicks that make damn good music is OK by me and the sort of music that is original enough to warrant multiple listens is also OK by me.
I have seen well over 100 bands live and these were one of the best I have seen.

They're good. Have a special feel. But something about their music irks me. Maybe because I have a problem listening to soul music. But they deserve props. Probably one of the better groups out there today.
