I especially like the beginning of this song, when you just hear Jackie Wilson's strong voice backed by a little bass. I like the fact that his voice is strong and warm enough to stand alone on its own with a bare minimum of accompaniment. I prefer those moments to the parts with organ and choir.

I was surprised by how short all the songs were! James Carr did sing well. I love the electric guitar phaser effect and was surprised to hear it in the first song you listed.

when i was posting the Jackie Wilson, no pity in the naked city, my lift turned up, so i couldn't print anymore about the song, but his eyes tell it all, he feels the pain of those words, one of my favourite soul tunes...

I wish I had the knowledge and insight on the pre-70s era that he has, the earliest music I can reflect on with any substance would be around 1968 & 1969, R&B/soul and rock.

my friends and i are into the mod scene, which 60'ts soul r&b, Hammond jazz/funk, are the main ingredients, so we all bounce our knowledge of each other, so it's not all me, it's quite an underground scene, but the people who are into it are 100% on it, so there is plenty knowledge, i would feel a fraud taking the credit for printing the In's & outs, of a tune or singer, if i like the vibe i will post the tune and hope the other members get something out of it, was at a mod/soul night in Glasgow last night, it was outstanding, great crowd and even better music...
