I just ordered 'One Nation Under a Groove'.
It should be ready in about two months. In the mean time...
Is anyone able to send me the audio of 'Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?!' and 'Smokey'?
Pm me, thnx!

Thumbs up

One Nation Under A Groove always sounded more like a Parliament album to me. Check TALES OF KIDD FUNKADELIC & THE ELECTRIC SPANKING OF WAR BABIES (Sly Stone is on War Babies)

Bernie Worrell is the man

Also check FREE YOUR MIND AND YOUR ASS WILL FOLLOW its got more reverb on their than most people have had hot dinners.

i have to say that i like Parliament moreso for the spacier feel of their stuff overall, but both groups are definately mindblowing and are hallmarks of music.

Saw George Clinton play a few months ago. Great set, but they did not play Flashlight or Atomic dog. Is there some kind of legal or song rights issue?

George Clinton and Funkadelic should be described simply as 'pure Funk', and at the same time funkadelic makes a big impact on 'rock guitar' also, what a lethal combination, funk with a powerful lead guitar.

Anyone ever hear Ween's 'A Tear For Eddie'? It's a Maggotbrain-esque tribute to Eddie Hazzle. The studio version is alright but the 'Live At Stubb's 7/2000' version is mind blowing!

I have seen "George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars" twice.

I like them playing both the soul and rock stuff at the same time on top of the funk beats.

Tear the Roof off/ We Want the Funk, Atomic Dog, and Free Your Mind/Ass Follow are my favorite.

I will say, though, I liked the first show way more. I met my girlfriend there. I don't know what the difference was, but no one wanted the first show to end.

The second show, though, seemed more monotonous and guitar masterbat-ey. We left a little early.

1st indoor, 2nd outdoor? Cause of girlfriend? I don't know. I would watch them again, but I have also passed up chances to see them again. To me, as a drummer, its all about the ground-breaking rhythm section work with this band. I like rock guitar, but I also like horns and other colors in the palette. Also I wouldn't mind a bluesier/jazzier guitar sound over the funk rhythm section.
