Shadows5 song lyric collection
All of the following songs have music written and recorded as well. I write a wide range of lyrics and songs from folk/alt country to metal. It just depends upon the voices in my head at the time the lyrics come out.
Wiilliam He slept out on the streets For better than 15 years Hopelessly lost in a bottle Trying to make the memories fade away His face void of expression His heart an empty shell He had nothing else worth losing He had only his story to tell I met him outside a liquor store He was to proud to beg for change I went in and bought him a bottle I wanted to know what made him this way He said his name was William And he hadn’t always been like this He once had a wife and family Nice house and a couple of kids Did three tours of duty Fighting in a foreign land And no matter how hard he tried He came back a changed man Drowning himself in a bottle Fighting a battle he could not win Got in a bit of trouble Ended up in the pen His wife up and left him Took the boys and was gone for good Hadn’t seen them in 25 years Didn’t know if he would if he could I told him I had lost my father When I was very young My mother told me he lost his life At the wrong end of a gun Now William lives under the bridge With an old dog he calls shoe He just sits and drinks the days away Since he has nothing better to do I spent a lot of time with William that year Sitting under that dirty old bridge We shared some laughs Told stories of our past And shed a few hard tears I offered William to come stay with me Since I was living all alone He just looked at me with a tear in his eye And said no, this is where I belong INSTRUMENTAL Early one Sunday morning I heard the news on my T.V. They said they had found a vagrant Deceased on 16th street I ran all the way to the bridge Hoping it wasn’t true But lying right where William used to sit Was only his old dog Shoe I sat and buried my face in my hands And cried like a little child Shoe came over and laid his head in my lap To comfort me for awhile When I got up to leave I told Shoe to come along He could come live at my home Since William now was gone He began to bark and lead me To a small opening in the rocks I reached inside and in my hand I felt an old metal box From Shoes old dirty collar Hung a rusty lock box key He lowered his head, shook his collar around And gave it to me I opened the box and peered inside At some letters and medals from the war But underneath there was an old envelope That held so much more I removed an old tattered photograph And held it in my hand My knees nearly buckled I could barely stand I sat on the ground beside his old dog And through tear filled eyes could see The little boy sitting on Williams lap That little boy was me He said his name was William -end- Shadows Verse I hear their Voices in the darkness Their shadows follow me around the room Dark Visions dance through my mind As They call to me through the gloom I Feel the cold as they enter my heart Bringing their pain and regrets The chill it rolls down my spine As I break out in a cold sweat The road to their perdition Has taken a detour through my heart They fill me with their attestations While they're tearing my soul apart Chorus I'm not you! (But you're gonna be) <------sung by backup or on second vocal track I'm not you! (But you're gonna be) I'm not you! (But you're gonna be) (slowly) And now I begin to wander..........(drawn out) Verse They slowly filled me with their rage As they trapped me deep within their cage My heart that was once filled with desire Has now been filled with Hells own fire I will continue the tradition of their deeds and lore Or my soul will be from it's core tore In this pit my lot was cast I will forever live within their past Verse I hear their Voices in the darkness Their shadows follow me around the room Dark Visions dance through my mind As They speak to me through the gloom My eyes have now been emptied Of what little life they had left My body has been atrophied Yet I am filled with no regrets The un-forgiven ones now have spoken And chosen me as their pawn They have planted their seed within my heart In the hopes that it will spawn Chorus 2 The Hate (that's within their souls) The hate (which has taken it's toll) The hate (it's removed me from my mind) The Hater (that has carried on through time) Guitar lead up to next section Chorus But Im' not you! ( you're gonna be) I'm not you! (But you're gonna be) I'm not you! (But you're gonna be) Now I've begun to wander Now I've begun to wander Now I've begun to wander end with guitar final Road Trip verse: Leaving outta Louisiana in a stolen Cadillac Told my Ma and Pa I aint never coming back I shot that deputy sheriff cause he was trying to take me in I already gave'em ten years of my life I ain't livin in a cell again Papa said son I wish that you would surely change your mind I blew my mama a kiss and left her on the front porch cryin chorus: Heading down into Texas All the way to San Antone If they catch me down in Texas That will be where they lay my bones verse: I took off in that caddy with a hundred dollars and my gun somehow I always knew I'd live life on the run made it just north of Waco town me and that caddy were runnin dry pulled into that liquor store with a sign said Texas sky I shot that clerk behind the counter put two bullets in his head before he hit the floor I knew that he was dead really didn't want to kill that man it just happened way to fast I told him to hand it over but he wouldn't give me the cash he reached for that old shotgun but I already had my 45 If he would have just give it up he would still be alive I grabbed up all the cash a bottle of whiskey and a quart of gin jumped in that cadillac and was on the road again chorus: Heading down into Texas All the way to San Antone If they catch me down in Texas That will be where they lay my bones verse: Just south of San Marcos that whiskey was kickin in my eyes was gettin heavy and my head was startin to spin pulled into a cheap motel lookin for a place to rest my head stumbled into that dingy room and passed out on the bed probably should have known they would be trying to track me down especially after what I did up north of Waco town chorus: Heading down into Texas All the way to San Antone If they catch me down in Texas That will be where they lay my bones verse: just around the break of day that sheriff busted in my door I shot him right between the eyes and dropped him to the floor his deputies rushed in behind him and shot me full of lead the skinny one pulled out his black jack and smacked me in the head four bullet holes a busted skull and my arm shredded by their dog they wheeled me into that courtroom with my head still in a fog judge wasn't showing no mercy he only had one goal send my coonass up to Huntsville death without parole chorus: Heading down into Texas All the way to San Antone If they catch me down in Texas That will be where they lay my bones I will add more later......I have a bunch of them |

about my dogs and how they saved me from myself
CHORUS
Unconditional love Was what you gave me Unconditional love Was how you saved me VERSE When you finally found me I was a shell of my former self Through your eyes you could see me When I could not see my self I still do not understand The one I had become Living in a world of shattered dreams I had become undone CHORUS Unconditional love Was what you gave me Unconditional love Was how you saved me VERSE You showed me what I was missing And I could not find myself Through all those years of searching I had put my heart upon a shelf You taught me how to love again When I did'nt think it could be done You thawed this heart of ice and stone With the heat of a thousand suns CHORUS Unconditional love Was what you gave me Unconditional love Was how you saved me BRIDGE WITH SOLO CHORUS Unconditional love Was what you gave me Unconditional love Was how you saved me VERSE I pray this love never ending And that this feeling will never fade It was this love that I was seeking And now I see the difference you have made CHORUS TO END WITH FADE |

About the recovery process from addiction that I am still going through
I know I did you wrong
Time after time year after year But you know that wasn't me I was living behind a mask lost within my soul enveloped in a darkness that would not let me go I have no right to ask and you can simply walk away watch me fail from a distance let me die another day BRIDGE But if you ever loved me and if you ever cared give me one more chance and listen to what I have to say CHORUS Help me now because I'm falling Trying to live this life one moment at a time Help me now because I'm falling won't you reach out yor hand and pull me back in line VERSE I can see the light at the end of this long dark road but I can't seem to get there I just can't make it on my own it seems my legs just won't carry me where in my heart I know I need to go my inner light has been burnt away by a needle and a hole BRIDGE But if you ever loved me and if you ever cared give me one more chance and listen to what I have to say CHORUS Help me now because I'm falling Trying to live this life one moment at a time Help me now because I'm falling won;t you reach out your hand and pull me back in line VERSE it all started so long ago when we were oh so young just a glance through the looking glass and the unraveling had begun the time has slipped away like the sun below the waves I'm a sailor on a stormy sea and I know I must be brave BRIDGE But if you ever loved me and if you ever cared give me one more chance and listen to what I have to say CHORUS Help me now because I'm falling Trying to live this life one moment at a time Help me now because I'm falling won't you reach out your hand and pull me back in line Help me now because I'm falling Trying to live this life one moment at a time Help me now because I'm falling won't you reach out your hand and pull me back in line BRIDGE But if you ever loved me and if you ever cared give me one more chance and listen to what I have to say CHORUS Help me now because I'm falling Trying to live this life one moment at a time Help me now because I'm falling won't you reach out your hand and pull me back in line and pull me back in line please pull me back in line END WITH GUITAR RINGING Last edited by Shadows5; 04-14-2016 at 10:09 PM.
