Musicbanter Collaborations and Splits

I'm sure everyone is aware of the very diverse range of musicality on this board, different with each artist. I'm always open to the idea of collaborating or making a split with anyone, so I wanted to make a place where people can come in, throw their hats in, browse other people who are interested, discuss and all that. Everyone brings something unique to the forum and we enjoy a lot of each other's stuff. If anyone wants to do something with me or make a split with one of my 418 projects, that'd be choice.

Members open to collaborate:

Mondo Bungle
Grindy

Tristan Geoff

Members open to split:

Tristan Geoff

Personally I'd really love to collab with EPOCH6 for some abrasive type IDM.

Frownland 03-08-2016 03:46 PM

Hey do you want to make some metal type stuff together, Mondo?

grindy 03-08-2016 03:47 PM

I'd love to make a track using samples from MB musicians. So if anyone is up to providing me with some tracks, snippets, whatever, I'd be glad to utilize them.

You're free to go through my discog to find something that you like, and I'd be down to give you some original material. PM me if you want me to do something specific for the original stuff.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 03-08-2016 03:56 PM

I'd like to make a collaborative project with Frownland where he turns my body into an avant-garde musical instrument.

Frownland 03-08-2016 03:59 PM

Mail your corpse in a refrigerated truck to me and I'll lay down some recordings.

Is that a roundabout way of saying 'blow me'?

You can expect it to arrive in the mail within 5-7 business days.

I'm saying do whatever it takes to turn my corpse into the most experimental album ever recorded. If that means blowing me, then I'm willing to take one for the world of musical sciences.

Frownland 03-08-2016 04:03 PM

If deconstruction is allowed, I can turn you into upwards of twenty instruments.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 03-08-2016 04:06 PM

Whatever it takes.

Mondo Bungle 03-08-2016 04:09 PM

Everyone contribute to my music collective

I'm gonna count that as collaboration

I'm also generally up for some actual collaborating, but since I'm currently pretty busy and always on the road, some solitary remixing and repurposing seems like a more realistic alternative.

Cool!
I might build Grindystein's monster out of your samples and Frown's, or alternatvely make an EP with individual tracks scavenged from individual members. Let's see how it'll go.

That sounds really interesting I'd love to see what you get out of it.

YorkeDaddy 03-08-2016 05:35 PM

I respect every single one of you enough musically to be willing to collab

Tristan_Geoff 03-08-2016 05:46 PM

I'd be willing to do either. I can play harmonica poorly and drums slightly less than poorly.

So when you say split you mean more in the manner of a collaborative split than here's my tracks here's yours right? I'd be psyched for the former.

Mondo Bungle 03-08-2016 05:55 PM

wouldn't that just be a collaboration

YorkeDaddy 03-08-2016 06:13 PM

Some specific collabs I'd be down for:

Plainview: instrumental hip hop with ambient elements

Mondo: A mixture of dark and light ambient, maybe this could be a cool split. I'd also be willing to experiment more with some more harsh metal stuff

Frownland: Experimental electronic, I feel like if I was working with you instead of making a Daydream Society album that I was trying to cater to both MB and my IRL friends I'd be a lot more uninhibited and experimental in my tracks

Freebase: Long shot but you're a boss br0

That's what I'm asking.

I feel like a garage punk/black metal/noise EP would be interesting. I have time to do stuff this summer.

Mondo Bungle 03-08-2016 08:07 PM

Stay tuned for the noosefiller debut in two hours

Frownland 03-08-2016 11:24 PM

Rod, you've been shanghaied into fjf.

Epoxy8's buddy here- He doesn't do that style anymore. The boy sold his soul to Robert Johnson and started making blues music. I however sort of flipped places with him and am kind of just getting into that style (or more like breakcore stuff to be specific), and would love to collab with anyone who, like me, has no clue what the hell they're doing (or is just very patient). I also know how to use trackers (the sequencers not the piracy thing) which makes collabs much easier to do with people who don't have the same plugins and samples available to them.

What programs do you use?
You seem to have a cool taste and it might be fun to collaborate with you.

EPOCH6 03-30-2016 12:55 PM

True story^

2 years ago my production laptop blew up beyond repair and I lost a sample, software, and music collection that I had been building for years. Around the same time I graduated from university and landed an excellent job, allowing me to rebuild my guitar/gear collection that I had sold off years before to pay for university. That very quickly caused me to relapse back into rock music and blues, I still love electronic music of many shapes and have at least some knowledge of what goes into production, but musically I'm much more at home with a guitar these days and will be continuing to focus my musical output in that direction.

That being said I am considering putting together a sample pack of acoustic progressions that may work quite well with instrumental hip-hop / trip-hop. I would have the recordings separated into folders by tempo, likely 90 - 120 bpm. I may have some time to do this tonight if nothing comes up.

As in DAWs or synths too? My main hubs are Ableton (for hip hop) and Renoise (for junglebreaksuperfastglitchdrumcore). I've also *cough*acquired more synth plugins than I know what to do with. I've mainly been using Massive, Zebra, and Absynth tho.

Alright so General Disregard broke up earlier this month but I'll be able to start working with this post-punk/post-rock e-band I might have mentioned earlier. Would anyone wanna do spoken word poetry? You'll have to write your own stuff of course. We're working on making a three-song EP by the end of summer.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 07-20-2016 01:08 PM

Think you're Slint or something?

I'm trying to do something along the lines of Remain in Light meets Spiderland but with tons more experimentation.

You interested? I love your writing style so you should be a good fit.

Hmmm, not sure. If or once you guys have anything recorded, if you wanted to send it to me I'd give it a try, but I can't say I've ever really tried spoken word. My love for La Dispute and Slint is enough to give it a shot though.

Mondo Bungle 07-20-2016 02:37 PM

almost sounds like the slintcore/mewithoutyoucore post rock/punk albums I'm writing

I'm in love with the art http://www.musicbanter.com/1704401-post1281.html it's more indie. Then the concept album will be more about rocking

Tristan_Geoff 07-20-2016 03:27 PM

Sounds good Qwertty

Need any help with that?

Mondo Bungle 07-20-2016 03:36 PM

what gave you that idea, the fact that I asked for help? :basketbal

Lol, I mean I'm pretty limited on what I can bring to the table. I can play drums and harmonica decently. But that's mostly it.

Mondo Bungle 07-20-2016 04:01 PM

I can't even record right now

Damn. I'll help with anything you'll need. I've got a high quality condensor mic but I can't mix very well.

Can't imagine you'll need harmonica though?

Mondo Bungle 07-20-2016 04:34 PM

I need every instrument, what do you think I'm gonna do, not use every instrument?

I forgot it's one of YOUR releases. Harmonica it is. Tell me what you want and I'll start practicing.

I'm rather good at the Slint/post-rock style too on drums so don't worry about that not being quality.

Mondo Bungle 07-20-2016 05:47 PM

I can't even comprehend this tribal crescendo into violin section followed by deeper strings and experimental flute and thick sitar noise I just made for noosefiller's new song Realm of the Alchemist
