What is something that you struggle with most as a music artist?

The biggest problem i've heard so far is marketing. Just curious to know what other artist are encountering that is a painful problem to them. Thanks for your answers!

I can relate. I haven't played while sober in years.

I "suffer" (blessed with?) from Musical auditory hallucinations. I find it difficult to cope with and the only thing that helps to quiet down the noise (music) is either drinking or transcribing what I'm hearing. Unfortunately, I ended up combining the two and it's been a tough journey.

What happens if you play sober? How does your music change?

It's those damned inhibitions coming back to haunt us.

It gets better. My timing gets tighter, my phrasing is more coherent, and I take more risks when my senses aren't dulled from alcohol. Also, I'll usually get lazy or impatient during mixing when I'm buzzed, so that suffers too.

I think I'd put "flakey musicians" as #1. Things would be so much easier if people were focused, committed, even-keeled, team-oriented, positive-minded, dependable/responsible, with no substance abuse problems, no neuroses and mental breakdowns or freakouts, etc.
