I have to have a beer or 2 before i play in public to ease my nerves. if i played sober i would probably get too self too conscious, ive never played sober but i know that's what would probably happen.

I'm the opposite my songs are very short, sometimes because I like them that way, sometimes because I have a hard time playing a part and know getting it right in one take is impossible -_- (for when I record). Overall I like short songs tho so I don't mind.

Hello everyone!
I'm having instrumental blockage and difficulty trying to write songs. The last time I actually tried to make a song it was 7 years ago. Inspiration is everywhere but I just don't know where to start. Btw im a newbie here. Nice to meet everyone. It'll take me some time to get used to this. I hope everyone can bare with me. Quite nervous.

7 years ago!? Dude, you need to start making songs again. the last song i made was 2 days ago and it was a total rip off of Crackhead Ted by Fidlar but ive been wanting to make a song with that kinda punk/rap vibe.

Don't overthink it when you're writing a song. Mess around with what you do have and see if you stumble across anything that could be developed into something more interesting.

I have a friend who's been refining the same song for years now. Im all for refining some songs but in his case i don't understand why he keeps trying to force that particular song to be his most epic creation.
My creative process is very different from his, instead of trying to make the perfect song i try to make a bunch of good songs with interchangeable parts. Sometimes i make a song with a great chorus but a mediocre verse or vice versa and in those cases i take wthvr was good from the 2 songs and merge them into 1.

My preferred method is not playing the same song twice. It's more interesting for me and improvisation translates very well in a live setting (although its magic can be lost for some when they simply listen to the recording).
