Protest songs need to come from your gut ... something has to honestly anger you ... if it angers you so much you won't care if you suck at lyrics just as long as you get your message out ... check out my band The Yalla Yallas ... We have some protest songs try 'Under Attack' 'Stand Up' or 'Retaliation'

I'm with this guy. Write about how retarded you think the assignment is and how horrible you are at writing lyrics. Stick to what you know.

Well, one band that you could listen to is Rage Against The Machine. Much of their work is political and you could find some inspiration there. Or maybe try those old Vietnam protest songs, hope this helped.

Essentially, we had to watch this asinine movie, and discuss the political and social implications in said movie. I just submitted a paper on how asinine the whole thing was, how I couldn't take it seriously, and how **** talking owls when you're in middle school.

Just write against anything that angers you. It's the best way.
I suck at writing songs, but once I wrote a song about the time I was considered the "psychopathic emo loner" kid in middle school and how much I hated it. One of my best works till date. |

you have to be drawn to the issue, you cant just randomly pick it out of a hat lol. There has to be something that you want to protest about in order to write a protest song, you need to think hard otherwise your mind wont be in it.
