Not trying to plug or anything, but here's something a buddy and I just wrote, sort of just this short offshoot of an idea we were tossing around.
I'm not really going on about the production aspect, but more about the fact that at one point, I had a ton of tracks going on. I kept adding stuff and changing things, just for the purpose of making it sound more full and with depth. After a while, I realized that the approach was all wrong. I simply needed to have a focal point, a driver, an ambient sort of in/out flow to compliment the focus, and that was it. I ended up using 1 third of the amount of tracks the original one had. And it ended up sounding fatter and more full than before, but far more defined. I did mix and master it myself, so there may be sonic issues, but I just want to stress that this is literally like 8 or 9 tracks, down from about 23. And it came out fuller. https://soundcloud.com/weekendastron...-in-the-papacy

Your work is really beautiful. I am your newest fan. And you told me more in that link than in any of our messages (not discrediting any of the things you shared because it's great lol..) because it's a great example of explicit tracks... which is what the piece is missing. But I do think the final product of any project should ultimately be based on personal taste, down to the wire. I just think that taste should be represented as effectively as possible so the concept comes through. Listening to your work, you're like 95 percent of the way there, which is uncommon to come across here, or any place where you're dealing with mostly bedroom artists, for all intents and purposes. (not sure if that's you, just saying) So, it's both refreshing and encouraging to hear talent not only in the performance aspect, but the sonic representation of it as well. I just wanted to provide an outside perspective on how to make it come through a little better, and I hope I've done that!

Background Music

I've picked up a hobby of writing songs to be the background music for random moments of my life. Was fooling around on GarageBand a while back and wrote this hook. I would like to hear YOUR THOUGHTS on the first FEELINGS you have while listening to what I have so far.. It will help!.. Example: At 2.00 minutes was intended for those car commercials where some european car is driving over a bridge and the driver checks his rearview and sees the moon on the river.. far out yes.. That kind of stuff.. Last edited by CLOSER; 03-07-2013 at 12:32 AM. |
