"Old Friend"

You used to hound me everyday
Forcefully dragging me out of bed
Screaming to see the sun
Demanding i tagged along

I never understood why you needed me
To be there in every step
But i was too lazy to regret
The disappointment in your eyes

Time came and went
And you stopped asking more of me
Glad you finally gave me a break
I did not question the motives behind it

But soon i came to know
It was because you had moved on
And you no longer saw me fit
To fulfill your expectations

Seeing us drift apart
I decided to make an effort
But it was too late to bother
Too late to settle

It was then i understood
How you had felt all this time
How i drove you out my sight
And made you as uncaring as me

Now i wave to you from afar
While you laugh with your new friends
And miss the days when you wanted me
To be there with you.
