(IMO) Chamillionaire is one of the best at changing his voice enough to keep a listener interested. Reading the lyrics you will notice how he makes some words rhyme, that don't naturally rhyme, with out tweaking them a little. Eminem does this more than any one I know. At 14 most likely your content won't be enjoyed or believed by any one if you are, over aggressive, talking about years of experience, gangster talk, or sexual stuff, drug use, or other things of that nature. Try to listen to artist you can relate to for inspiration. below I will post artist that have made dope songs that steer away from some of the stuff I mentioned. macklemore is a great example of how voice is important in rap. He found his, and its dope. He developed it his earlier stuff he only sounded like this on certain parts, he grew as an artist and fine tuned his craft. |

@FrankBeardJr, because I'm not quoting that long of a post. Macklemore is most of what I listen to, along with some Eminem. I understand how changing your voice and tone can be important, and as nerdy as it sounds, I am part of Speech and Debate team, and I stay mostly on the Interpretive Play type things, without props or costumes or anything. As you can imagine, a play done by a single person without props and many characters needs different voices and transitions. I try to practice that a lot. Unfortunately sometimes I write some rhymes that don't really make sense in others minds, with the rhythm and things, but If I was actually recording it could sound good. Thanks for the tips, I'm going to start filtering through some of these videos now, but I'm planning to start a longer song soon, may try to actually record it if I can, will probably wait on a step like that though. Thanks!
