Daddy
I wrote this song about my dad who passed away in a paving accident. I am only 14. I didn't edit at all. this is all I have
Everybody loved my daddy. He was the hardest working man I knew, I was proud that he was my daddy and I loved him too. He taught me how to be a good girl. He taught me everything I knew. He was the best worker on his paving crew and he knew it too. You’ve got to look out for your daddy, love him every day! Because one day he’ll leave for work and never come back again! You only have one daddy , trust me you don’t realize how much you love him , until it is too late! You have be Proud of your daddy, like I was proud of mine. Say you love him and then kiss him cause he’s the reason you turned out great. You probably don’t know it now, but you sure will thank him one day! I woke one day it was seven am. Daddy came and kissed me good bye and said I love you, have fun today. I got up out of my bed to say I love you too but I looked out the window and he was gone, it was too late. I didn’t think much of it, I just went on with my day. I danced my heart out that day, I danced my fears away. I had no idea what was to come, I had no clue what i’d lose that day. I got out of dance that day and a dance mom came up to me and said were going to bring you home today. She said your mom wanted you to call her she had something to say. I called my mom, she answered and said, Daddy got hurt on the job today, I’m not sure if he’s ok or not but were gonna pray. I hung up that phone with tears in my eyes. I left dance with a thousand thoughts in my mind. I had no Idea, I had no clue. I just didn’t know. We were on our way to my house when Ms.Walsh got a call from the hospital it was a nurse she said “do you have Linda Dixon’s daughter? you need to bring here right away.” My stomach turned, right then I knew, I knew that my daddy was not well, I knew it was a big deal, I knew something wasn’t right. When she pulled up to the hospital, there was a lady waiting there for me. She took into the waiting room and said,” wait here for your mommy”. When I saw mom’s face I cried and cried. She said “daddy passed away.” I broke down into tears. I said “why mommy why. This just isn’t fair.” She said “Baby I’m sorry. There is nothing we can do” I asked her what is gonna happen now?” she said. “honey I have no clue” You’ve got to look out for your daddy, love him every day! That day I lost my only daddy. It was too late to say goodbye, It was too late to say, I love you . It was to late to call him mine. I knew I had to stay strong for my mommy, love and respect her too. Because now we are a a family of two and She was god’s gift to you. We have to get along and help each other out. yes were gonna be okay but, things will never be the same. I hope you know I love you daddy. I will take care of our family and if we can get through this then we can get through anything. I will take care of my mommy. I will make sure she’s okay because that’s what you did daddy and you did it the right way. I’m gonna show you what you taught me. I’m gonna be the best I can be. I will always try my hardest, Get good grades and go to school. Because the biggest thing you taught me was to try your hardest every day because it’s gonna come back to you one day. I’m gonna marry a man who treats me right and loves me as much as I love you. I know your in gods arms now. Your with Christopher and grampy Lou. You were the best daddy a girl could ask for. You raised me and I’m proud of you, I never doubted you once daddy. I never saw you do me wrong. I love you so much daddy. I hope you rest in peace for eternity. I hope you watch out for your turkey because she wrote this song for you. Thank you so much daddy. Thank you for all you do. No amount of money could pay for how much you do. you’ve got to look out for your daddy, Love him every day! Because one day he’ll leave for work and never come back again! You only have one daddy you don’t realize how much you love him , until it is too late! Be Proud of your daddy. I was sure proud of mine. Say you love him and then kiss him cause he’s the reason you’re so great. You might not know it now, but you sure will thank him one day! Daddy was a really great man, hardworking too. He did a great job at what he did. He sure loved it too. In our lawn, our house will forever stay, with 3 birch trees, a swing set and an unpaved driveway. |

Very sorry for your loss. That can be rough at any age. For being only 14 you have a good sense of structure, and I'm quite sure your Father is smiling down with pride on you.

I'm very sorry your father died at such a young age and so suddenly, leaving you appreciating your memories of him but missing him terribly, wanting him to know how much you love him, and overflowing with all the love you wish you could still express to him directly, person to person. Reading your description of your dad, I am thinking about how lucky he was to have a wonderful daughter who loved him all his years while he was alive. I can imagine your dad would have wished to be there for you and your mom to experience many more happy years of life together. I can imagine how much he would wish to comfort you now directly, if he could. Also, I imagine that your father knew, even without your having a chance to tell him again with words that morning, how much you loved him and were proud of him. So he would have carried that with him on the day of his accident, right to the end. Although it may not be much consolation when facing the death of a loved one, I am glad that on the day your father died he was able to tell you he loved you and wanted you to have fun. I imagine that your father, whether he died this year or forty years from now, would want his final message to you to be that he loves you and encourages you to enjoy your life to its fullest by assuring you, as he did on his last day alive, that his love is with you even though he can't be. I lost someone very close to me earlier this year, and very suddenly, too. Like you, I found an outlet for my emotions in writing. I wrote this about my loved one's death: "In one sudden moment you were gone, as easily as a leaf blown away from another by an impartial breeze." While he was in the hospital, unconscious, I also wrote him directly. He wasn't able to read the letter because he never regained consciousness, although I was with him to the end and was able to feel his final heartbeats with my hand on his chest. And then, like you, I was left with all the grief and all the love, and the one person I wanted to turn to was gone. In addition to writing out my feelings, I coped by frequenting grief websites such as RECOVER FROM GRIEF LOSS: Creative Healing Techniques (generally sobbing the whole time). Here you can read about other people's experiences of grief after the death of a loved one. You can also post about your father, your feelings, and your memories, if you like, to honor your father and what he means to you: WORDS OF SORROW: YOURSPACE The site helped me by showing me that other people understand how devastating it is and how profoundly sad you can feel after your loved one dies. Perhaps the site will also be helpful for you, because my guess is you don't know many other 14-year-olds whose fathers have died. I find it helps not to feel alone, danceyourheartout, even if it doesn't make the sadness and yearning go away. So, I want you to know that you are not alone. Death Of Father Thank you for sharing about your father and for encouraging everyone to tell loved ones that you love them and are proud of them while you can.
