Needle drop in 5... 4... 3... 2...

Plankton 12-05-2018 07:56 AM

I think my brain just coagulated. Holy **** mondo, not sure how you're creating those beats, but they're sharp and dig deep. The dialog samples are well placed, and everything is cohesive. Some of the sampled effects/beats (sounds like you used a mic slap in Backwards...) reminded me of maybe PWEI or something similar, but with it's own identity. Avant garde/deconstruted club in it's rarest form. For someone with the resources you have to be able to put this together, I'm can honestly say I'm blown away. I think my favorite track is Deranged Letters with The Italic Period a close second.

Bravo.

Mondo Bungle 12-05-2018 04:40 PM

I didn't think you liked electronic music

Plankton 12-05-2018 05:14 PM

I don't discriminate. Hell, some of my first recordings were on a mini Casio keyboard, since that's all I had. Expression can come from any medium.

Mondo Bungle 12-05-2018 05:19 PM

well I'm excited you enjoyed it, I gave it my all

Plankton 12-05-2018 05:35 PM

The micro-editing you did, and I'm just speculating, is what gave it it's flow. A good flow for the listener with no abrasive mishaps are what make or break a lot of the experience for most. It's a lot of work, and it takes time, but well worth the effort. You definitely have an ear for that.

Structural Engineering.

I threw this together while I listened this morning.

Mondo Bungle 12-05-2018 05:56 PM

that image is hella vaporwave

Plankton 12-05-2018 06:03 PM

I had to break it down from about 5000x3000 pixels to 800x.. what ever it is. You can see quarks in the original.

Gotta remove it tho. Legal crap and all that.

Unitron 12-05-2018 09:25 PM

Awesome stuff Mondo, I think Deranged Letters is still my favorite but Backwards in the Fourth Ward and Man of the Mind Mill are up there too.

The whole thing's consistently great though.

Key 12-05-2018 11:35 PM

Still need to listen Mondo. I'll dl on my phone tonight so that I can listen on my walk to work tomorrow. And yes, I'll still review it.

Although I'll be updating my journal regularly with track updates etc, I just want to announce that there will be a track on my new album "xms" available for listen soon for those that don't dive into the journal forum. that's all i'm gonna say about it in here. everything else can be seen in the journal.

I wonder what Freud would think about the "**** me up the ass with your hot teenage cock" sample in Love for the Father

Anyone in here ever write an album that's not about noise?

Key 12-11-2018 12:06 AM

I just posted it up on BC. I've been meaning to do that for a long time. It's been reviewed here before, and imho my best work, since I was the least drunk while putting it together. I have a few other albums, but they're garbage.

Cool beans. I'll check it out when I have the time. Limited interwebbing time today.

Plankton 12-11-2018 07:55 AM

I've done free jazz and folk albums.

MicShazam 12-11-2018 03:10 PM

I hesitate to say what I really meant to say. I don't want my ass roasted too good.

Mondo Bungle 12-11-2018 03:12 PM

MicShazam 12-11-2018 03:16 PM

Wanna bet?

Mondo Bungle 12-11-2018 03:41 PM

well everyone here has made many albums that are not "about" noise, and at least we can all take solace that you only one you're hurting by not listening to some of these is yourself. Of course then you couldn't baselessly dis them.

out here fightin the good fight

Mondo Bungle 12-11-2018 03:45 PM

More time for other projects. But thank you. Definitely one of the best I've done in a while. I'd also like to point out that this is my least noise influenced album. Iwent much more ambient.

I reiterate, xms is mostly ambient and electronic. Hardly any noise tbh. Probably why I enjoyed making it more tbh.

You mean not lazy stuff, like what Ki and Frown are doing?

:shycouch:

... possibly something vaguely in that direction.

I'd be more excited to listen to something that conforms to my limited view of what good structure and composition is.
Pleb to the core.

grindy 12-12-2018 03:43 AM

I mean, I love noise and improv and all that and exactly because I know my ****, lazy, unimpressive stuff in that direction can be especially annoying.
