Default In memory of Mike Doogan

I posted a couple times about a good friend of mine passing recently. I'd wanted to do a whole thread dedicated to him, but I can't expose his music to the public since he and his brother were trying to cut some deals, and I'd be over-stepping my boundaries. I can however offer up this small gem (as well as what was already posted in the ...Listening To thread) that was recorded some time in the late 90's. I met his family right around the time my daughter was born, and I'd go over (with Hanna in tow) to jam regularly. I cut a lot of teeth with these seasoned veterans. They had been a gigging band for decades, and they helped me to understand what it's like to be a guitar player in a band. I was always like a racehorse charging out of the gate, wanting to solo over everything and Mike was always there to hold me back. I had absolute respect for him as his original songs were beautiful, and he was a man of many talents, ie Singing, Songwriting, Guitar, Keys, Harmonica. He could do it all with ease. This song showcases some of that, and you can hear him let me know when it's my time to solo with a subtle "Alright" at around 1:15. Mike singing, and playing on his trusty 335, and me playing a 70's LP Goldtop using a small Zoom expression pedal, and Loyd on Bass and Larry on Drums pulling the rhythm section along.

I cannot express my sense of loss enough over his passing. Hurting.

This is a cool 5 song jam set I had today. The first two songs are just myself (Vocals and Rhythm Guitar) and my friend Chris on Bass. My brother Jay joins up on Lead guitar during the third song and then we do two more with all of us.

Probably a mod accident. I moved it back to the songwriting forum, assuming that's where it was before. Let me know if it should be somewhere else.

Some new stuff from my solo noise project, Jesus the Carpenter. "The Gnashing of the Teeth" is not for the meek, mind you. Check it out.

And here's a nice accompanying video.

Wolves In Sheepskin dropped another, this one's more accessible than some of our other stuff. I give you "Knuckle in the Mud."

New song just dropped today! This song took me the longest to track and mix out of all the ones I've ever done. Really really happy with the way it came out tho, hope you guys dig it!

Default My musical project.

I have no final name for the project itself (the title there is just for now), but I made a demo album, but it didn't turn out how I wanted it to.
But nevertheless, a few tracks were pretty okay.
