Roth's Collection
Hello everyone! I am new to this community and would like to begin by getting some feedback on these lyrics. They come from the title song of my debut album, "The End of Time."
These are strictly property of myself. If you would like to experiment with setting these words to music, please private message me. THE END OF TIME How long could one girl cry? Seems like she's died inside You'd think she'd dry up like a river At the end of time The cold has grown so fast Thought love was meant to last? Guess I thought wrong How's that for my peace of mind? Remember those days She was so happy Now she's turned to ice Remember those days They're long gone No one else could suffice But you were there You were there for her At the end of time. How long could sorrow grow? Too long, she doesn't know You'd think she's had enough already Thought of letting go But still she lingers on With a hope we thought was gone I guess she's stronger than she thought Though she's on her own. Remember those days She was so happy Now she's turned to ice. Remember those days They're long gone No one's love could suffice But you were there Always there for her At the end of time. Now the seconds, the minutes All seem to slow down Now the days and the months and the years Reach for her, care for her Tell her there's time for her Time for her to love... Our journey's at its end Check the hourglass's sand You've one chance to love again - Don't waste it! Now you can move on Start with hope a brand new song Perhaps love can last forever 'Til the days are gone. Just know he was there He was always there for you He will always be there for you Until the end of time. |

Higher
This is a work in progress.
This is a poem that I wrote that I will be setting to music in my album, The End of Time. The theme of the album is change, as I am going through a number of changes in my life. This particular song pertains to memories, and how they are constructed and reflected upon at various points in our lives, often as a source of comfort in a rough period of time. The music that this poem is set to is very avant-grade. With an almost-Egyptian tone, it blends a dirty synth bass and a beautiful acoustic guitar melody. HIGHER One thousand stories high We build our precious walls Hoping our time will come. Memories never die Monuments to good times We build them to the sun. Lead us to the peace A shelter from the war. Dancing through the fields of gold Gods who promised fighting Gone. Now we are finding Something stronger in ourselves. Our story never fades But people always change Carry on our name. Build high your own fate Live by what you create And you will reach the stars. |

I Woke Up Today
Work in progress. Now and then, I get to thinking of All the times We could have had, And I realize This don’t feel right, no. I tell myself, “I’ll see those eyes again,” But then remember when I had you in the Palm of my hand, And I get sick! Now it’s time to go and I can’t think of what to say. I just want to grab you and Never let you go away. I woke up Woke up today and realized You’re gone Now all I have is this song Just think Of all the things we could have done Now our new lives have begun Don’t look back Just keep moving on Think of me If you stop by, in this This lonely town If you’re around Just think of me Cause I’ll be long, long gone Tell our friends Our families that I I’ve moved on To bigger and better things Chasing the dream I wish you’d chase it with me Now it’s been so long and I can’t think of what to say. I just want to grab you and Never let you go away. I woke up Woke up today and realized You’re gone Now all I have is this song Just think Of all the things we could have done Now our new lives have begun Don’t look back Just keep moving on |

Another rather cryptic poem that deals with an unexpected change. In this instance, it is someone dying young. The idea came from a lucid dream where I myself was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was given a day to live, and I tried to convey the same sort of thoughts I experienced in that dream through this song.
The concept of dying young can be translated to any abrupt change in one's life; a relative passing, a plan falling through, anything. And If I Fall And if I fall Please don't try to catch me My journey is completed And what I thought I needed Wasn't meant to be And through it all I questioned what I lived for I finally realized it was not What I thought It would be Now I see Break down these walls Invade my mind Render me defenseless Take all you can find inside You've all but killed me As angry as I could be I finally see the light You provide Tell them not to cry |

Hey, I've seen this lying around here without getting any responses, so I'll tell you what I think!
"How long could one girl cry? Seems like she's died inside You'd think she'd dry up like a river At the end of time" and "Guess I thought wrong How's that for my peace of mind?" are my favourite lines of yours. They really set the mood for the song, and create images in my head. I like your lyrics. The song I like the least is "I woke up today". It's a little too straight to the point for me, but that's just my personal opinion. What kind of music are you playing? |
