Default MB Lyrics Contest

This is something I did on another forum and it was pretty successful.

It's exactly what the title implies, a contest where we will judge and rate other lyricists work. At the end of each month, a winner will be declared, as well as a runner-up.

Each lyric will rated by other users, on a scale of 1 to 10. The final score will be the average of the scores given to it.

At the end of each six-month period, an additional vote will be taken of the top 5 lyrics of the previous six months and a half-year winner will be declared.

Rules:

1. One lyric per user per month. Collaborations are welcome, but still count as one lyric per user involved.

2. Do not vote on the lyrics until the month's contest closes. I will let you know when this happens, and it will usually be the final week of the month.

3. Check your spelling and grammar. Changes are not to be made to the lyric after it is posted. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification. No exceptions.

4. Users who are not entered in the contest may still vote.

5. Do not vote on your own lyric.

6. Your votes will not count if you don't vote on each and every lyric entered. Contestants guilty of this, or simply not voting at all, will be disqualified. No exceptions.

7. The lyrics you enter each month must be unique to eachother.

8. Monthly contests in which less than 5 lyrics are submitted will be cancelled. These months are the exception to rule 7; the individual lyrics submitted in these months may be reused in later months.

9. The rules are subject to change and suggestions are welcome to better them.

Good luck! I'll post my entry later and hopefully others will, too.

My entry for the January contest:

EIGHT-THOUSAND HOURS SLEEP… A BLISSFUL COMA

The conscious world is so damn fake
So why do I stay awake?
Surely it’s not for my own sake
‘Cause I stopped caring about me a long time ago

There’s nothing I want more than sleep
‘Cause my true home is a dream
Eight thousand hours of deep sleep
Nothing outside of that appeals to me anymore

Why must life be spent with open eyes?
Why can’t I just exist inside?
And live where I am most at peace
Eight thousand hours sleep, at least

I hate more and more things every day
I just want them to go the **** away
Everything but that dark light, just go away
All I want and need is to just go and stay

Why must life be spent with open eyes?
Why can’t I just exist inside?
And live where I am most at peace
Eight thousand hours sleep, at least

Life is so dead
Just need some rest
**** all the rest
Awake in sleep
A blissful coma
Is all I need
Just go away
Just go and stay

Consciousness is more than bleak
I hate this awakening streak
I just want to sleep forever
I just want to sleep forever

Why must life be spent with open eyes?
Why can’t I just exist inside?
And live where I am most at peace
Eight thousand hours sleep, at least

Really? No one is interested? This is a really fun thing, you guys. Gives you a chance to check out other people's work while also seeign what they think of your's. Also, there's the potential for massive bragging rights.

Default HPH Rap - from Blastphemist

This is something fun I did for a homie that owns a "prostetic hair" company. Nothing I'd put on a record really, just some good rhyming fun.

------------------------------------------------------
This is a rap for all my blad folk! We gonna get crazy!
Lex Luther! Vin Diesel! John Malkovich-That's you baby!
Yea unh, get ya' some hair mother****er! Don't be lazy!
Cover that bitch-ya' head look craaaazy-like Mitch Pileggi!

But really listen man, I ain't playin'; I ain't hatin man-I'm just sayin'
Hit up HPH and get hair like a Saiyan
Call Nor-man the barbarian-he'll install ya hair again!
From toupee' to prosthesis, brother you'll love these pieces!
Styles and colors the list never ceases, always increases
And if you got time for a new design, Bodo got the mind
and he's a pro so go get ya head signed!

I think you will find a cover for ya rind, that you won't mind
getting behind. Get on it, hair on it, there on it! Wet on it?
All good at HPH no fake hair, not there-cuz they care.
Not just one get a pair! Ya never know when you wanna change it,
Re arrange it-hell do something strange it is real hair,
and it's really there and ain't goin nowhere!
Ya heard mother****er get you a pair!

Homies go from Patrick Stuart to Swayze in under a day!
Be a redhead-we'll light ya ablaze,
See Stanley Tucci rock new hair like it's Gucci
The blondes pretty like a daisy,
Ted Danson suddenly got him hair like Manson!
Brunettes they tend to amaze me,
Ya bald like Spacely get you some hair Kevin Spacey!

Lend him ya head and don't dread haha unless you want to!
Man the things they can do! Even make a prettyboy outta Beetlejuice!
If it's alopecia don't let it beat ya! Make an appointment they'll see ya
Next thing you know you'll be the, new wolfman in the area!
Have ya heard the news!? Hair like AC/DC and ZZ Top!
I was blad then I bought a mop! Fits my dome perfect-so it don't flop
Norm and Bodo make 'em, so they da cream of the crop.
**** a haircut man! I'm gonna shave it, let Norman save it!
So some old lady can wear it, bitch better beware it might get her high!

You know what I'm getting at, don't be that guy
Like Hulk Hogan, sportin' doll hair-you gotta be debonair, like Ric Flair!
It's the real deal, all natural, but detachable-sex appeal!
Unmatchable if what you want is hair-go there!

Homies go from Patrick Stuart to Swayze in under a day!
Be a redhead-we'll light ya ablaze,
See Stanley Tucci rock new hair like it's Gucci
The blondes pretty like a daisy,
Ted Danson suddenly got him hair like Manson!
Brunettes they tend to amaze me,
Ya bald like Spacely get you some hair Kevin Spacey!

Come on Thea Chassin, you know people stare-go buy some hair,
Cars swerve while they passin' but you act unaware
Front them locks like Brittney Spears, don't let her lie-been frontin' for years,
Don't shed tears, instead shed years! Party and drink beers,
Cause long hair equal don't care. Yeah have no fear,
We got ya covered from ear to ear!!

"A Second Chance"

V1: They say the heart is made of glass, well mine's shattered, mine's shattered. They say you can endure the storm, well i'm battered, i'm battered. They say that family's all that really matters, that matters. They just don't want to see my tears and tatters, my taters.

V2: Well I'm not a saint, I've made mistakes and I hate it, I hate it. They say the price is what you pay, well I paid it, I paid it. The world is controversial so debate it, debate it. But I know I won't have my say so I fake it, I fake it.

Pre-Chorus: Someone help me...

Chorus: You helped me lose my fear of falling, because of you i'm walking, because of you I'm breathing, thanks to you I've learned to stop cheating death. With all the words unspoken and all my dreams unbroken, I want to take this time to thank you for a second chance at life.

V3: Well I have no friends, I have no hope, so I'm crying, I'm crying. I have no reason to survive so I'm dying, I'm dying. I'm telling you the truth this time, but I'm lying, I'm lying. I'm okay, just trust me, but defy me, defy me.

Chorus 2: (VOX 1) Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, the bullets I brought, your love I sought.

(VOX 2) So hip hip hooray for better days, danger days, black parades.

Default Higher Grounds

VERSE1:
complicated mysteries
telling different histories
playing many melodies
for an audience who's not complete

darkness falling I can't sleep
time is flying awaken dreams
moving slow against me

PRE CHORUS:
tell me something I need to know
surprisingly interesting even though
words lose their touch when they grow

CHORUS:
just wanna keep this on higher grounds
just wanna mumble the way they sound
before they drown

under water breathing slow
higher ground is overdosed
I don't want this to show

VERSE2:
keeping mountains over sea
us resting underneath
some people believe

earth resembles complexity
experiencing the perplexity
officially

PRECHORUS

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
believe my words
every moment is absurd
hide and run is what I've heard

CHORUS
