Default Concept Song (Acoustic, singing)

Hey there. I'm really new to singing, and I mean really new. I've had no lessons, and never even tried singing until just a month or so ago... and my "singing sessions" have been far and few between with little to no critique. Basically, I'm a new born when it comes to singing.

I've joined these forums for two reasons. I love listening to music, and making music.

Here's the first song I'd like you to listen to. It's pretty long, but please if you're going to listen to it make sure you listen to the whole song without any pauses and without too much stimulation or distractions.... I really hope you enjoy it, or at least get something out of it.

Also, I'll be posting much more. Covers and originals... and I hope I can get some good advice and critique to help me get better at both song writing and at singing! Enjoy!

BTW, i just tried to post it, and it doesn't let me... which is kind of stupid. Just replace dot with . and forwardslash with / and have no spaces.

edit: As a matter of fact, I have a song floating around in my head right now... but it's opretty late. So I'll record and upload her tomorrow! All criticism is welcome. I haven't been here too long so I don't know what the crowd is like here, but no sugar coating or any of that crap. If you want to call it garbage, please go right ahead. It'll help me grow. But be constructive.... don't limit your criticism to insults. You have to veil your insults with advice and tips.

Welcome to MusicBanter, Aaron.

If you wish, please introduce yourself down in the Community Center in the Introductions section, and if you haven't yet read the MusicBanter community rules, you can find those there as well: http://www.musicbanter.com/introduct...tml#post653466

I listened to your acoustic guitar song. I felt the guitar was nicely strummed with a good rhythm, although the chords seemed somewhat repetitive. Your voice sounds solid and strong. The chant-like quality of the melody, however, makes me think of the song more as background music rather than a stand-alone song, especially since understanding the words was difficult for me. I liked the idea of the syncopated tinkling glass or box-hitting sound, which gave the piece an experimental feel, although I think an actual drum or bell might have felt more professional. The "ooo-ooo" vocals near the end were kind of frightening to me for some reason!

I hope my feedback helps! Not just insults!

Thanks. And the song ended up going a lot longer than I meant to. I only had a short unrefined set of lyrics set up... but I kinda zoned out and kept going.

Thanks again! And I waa mumbling a bit, and kind of singing like I was out of breath. To be honest, though the song was longer than I intended... it turned out how I envisioned it. The whole atmosphere was intended, singing and guitar included. I didn't really write this intended for this to be listened to often, or really more than once. It's a concept song, an experimentation like you said.

Again, thanks a bunch for the reply and criticism! Tomorrow I'll record and upload a few more "mainstream-esque" and "easily-er listenable to" songs.

edit:

The Lyrics for those who can't understand them! Probably a lot of you... I wasn't singing too clearly.

Lyrics
Quote:
and now you know
and find the truth
that you sorted out
Only war ends
only conflict finds it

Now you go on
to find the place
where they all hide their face
it's a masquerade for all the
ghosts,
and they all find your home.

more than nothing,
more than one
more than one
