maybe you're just unaware that there is good poetry and there is bad poetry, and these determinations are mostly left to subjective value judgments, but it is all poetry and your estimation of what constitutes good poetry is distinct from what constitutes poetry. |

How many permabans do you have to be issued before you get trolling is bad?
Its fine if you want to jump into a conversation other people are having but its fairly apparent you did so just to take a few whacks at me. Furthermore, its apparent you're the only one with a problem around here, so I'm guessing you're the only one feeling persecuted, victimized, and otherwise insulted. If you want to have a civilized discussion, feel free to. But if you're going to continue with the horses-ass routine you're going to have to troll someone else.

again, what are you talking about? no one is trolling you. if you can't handle a jab or two in an argument i look forward to the hilarity your political career should provide. and this discussion began with a response i made to another of your ridiculous assertions, so i'm not jumping-in to any conversation. and where did i indicate that i felt persecuted, victimized, or insulted? that was YOU big3. like in the sentence immediately prior. no really, go back and read it.
EDIT: oh, he's not a mod anymore. it's just that your first sentence there makes it seem like it was difficult for you to relinquish that authority position, at least as it relates to your interactions with me. so it's far easier for you to cry 'don't troll me' than respond. whatever. i think it's you fools who want to shout troll every time i make a point aggressively that derail these threads more than any 'trolling' on my part. when you get butt-hurt that i called your post self-absorbed and refuse to carry the discussion, but rather make it a discussion about my 'trolling' it's easy for the thread to descend into madness. EDIT EDIT: and looking over it again, self-absorbed really is the most potent insult i delivered. after all of your smug condescension, you can't take being called self-absorbed without whining that you're being trolled? really big3? I was writing poems out way earlier than I was writing songs.
I think songs can be considered poetry, so I think songwriters can be considered poets. I don't consider myself a songwriter, though. I do consider myself a poet first and foremost just because I feel it's easier to write poetry. I feel poetry can be anything I want it to be and a song has too much format for me to really express myself. |

Can I ask why you feel songwriting is limiting? Can it not be anything you want it to be? Quote:

I mean, unless we go by one definition, I think everyone will have their opinions, and that's why this is such an interesting topic. I think I limit myself. I have an idea of what a song should be, and I never leave those barriers to really express myself. When I write poetry, I'm able to escape from all of the barriers I have. I don't really know how to do that with music. |
