While My Baby Is Sleeping Alone

A lot of wives and husbands sleep alone while the family musician is out working most of the night trying to make a buck, or in hopes that his or her songs are discovered at some open mic in some Club or Honky Tonk. That's what gave me the idea for this song. It's a tribute to all musicians everywhere.

2-3-4 I'm a musician,
that's my life long position.
Somehow, I don't think I'm wrong.
I make a livin playin guitar
and singing my popular songs.
I write the lyrics, when I play the music,
sometimes the crowd sings along.
I like the night life, it's not a bad life,
singing into a micraphone.
I sleep when it's day time,
work when the moon shines,
playin another Honky Tonk;
for a hundred bucks, plus tips,
free drinks-N-tater-chips,
while my Baby is sleeping alone.

Yes, I'm a musician,
that's my life long position.
Somehow, I don't think I'm wrong.
I like the night life it's not a bad life,
but I don't like my Baby sleeping alone.
So, I told my wife I could give her a better life,
if I got a regular job.
She put her arms around me, gave me a kiss,
then said:

But some day some Big Star will play his guitar
and sing your popular songs.
Then you can stay home,
your Baby won't sleep alone
and you can teach me to play guitar.
