Helicopter Head

Helicopter Head

Turn Around
Can you see
Three hundred sixty-
One degrees?

I walk through walls
I jump through fire
I speak in tongues
I dress up nice
I twist my mind and
Break my neck
To find my helicopter head

Turn your head around
All the way
Like the kid in
That possession movie

I walk on water;
Melt the ice
I split the atoms
In my eye
I blow my mind and
Burn my bread
To find my helicopter head

Haven’t you heard only panoramic minds
Love helicopter heads?

Default The Beautiful And Dangerous

The Beautiful And Dangerous
Music & Lyrics by Daren Thomas Turner
© 2008 Page Turner Publishing Ltd. All Rights Reserved

The Beautiful And Dangerous

'tis the season far from hell
time to chill; time to gell
fill my shoes with geritol
wash it down with alcohol

where were you when we were us?
you're beautiful and dangerous
you are like a setting sun
get too close and you get burned

pleasantries wear thick and thin
wander out and wander in
lichens grow under your skin
your vegetable is all within

will you please please remove your hat?
bow your head and wait for that
thing you didn't really trust
The beautiful and dangerous pills are always black and red--take just one and you are dead
there is not an antidote
there is not a shred of hope
the beautiful and dangerous
things you said before you broke
everything that was my life
time to tease; time to grin
time to laugh at everything
time to take your ecstasy
time to find your deep meaning

all your friends are misconstrued
all of them are just like you
"things you didn't mean to say"
hell you say them anyway; all your friends are so upset
they have brought their tourniquets
they have brought their silver spoons
but they will all be leaving soon
when it is the midnight hour
i will use my special powers
a little game of show and tell...

CONTROLLED EROTIC CHAOS

Words & Music by Daren Thomas Turner
© MRI 2008 Page Turner Publishing Ltd.

CONTROLLED EROTIC CHAOS

Tempo = Bossa Nova or Bang Daddy Boomerang
(Klang muss frei sein)

you keep me oiled up in jars
you take me out when you are bored
i am a baby in your arms
i am a victim of your love

you have the key to all my locks
you know just how i come undone
i am your sacrificial lamb
my body dies after i come

Bossa Nova or Bang Daddy Boomerang
(Klang muss frei sein)

I like you.

First stanzas my favorite. You've got rhyme, something I could never. Congrats dear

thanks - actually you have great rhythm and meter in your verses + you have a visceral and caustic style in the vein of the beats as we have celebrated indeed -

in fact in re-reading A Sunday In Winter.... I had the spoken-word vision of a TS Eliot "Lovesong OF J Alfred Prufrock" type of thing --

even better....what type of reading voice do you have? later on i have plans for MRI to record music to spoken word performance pieces...some of your stuff would be great i think. of course you would be credited and would get any royalties so it's something to think about for the future. Maybe you have other works we could look at. At present you can also listen to MRI on Mix Radio here MRI at Mixposure | The Future of Independent Music - Mixposure is an Online Music Distributor Bringing Musicians and Music Lovers Together our 4 song EP is streamed on that URL-channel at high bit rate so the stereo sound is actually pretty good for web radio + MRI player widgets are available to embed in any web page or blog.

Additionally, all MRI songs/ lyrics begin their life as poems hence each is available for free download [ as word.doc ] i think there are 22 or songs up on site now. SPRAY is for Ian Curtis of Joy Division ( whose character in the song ) tells of the plight of MExican-Indian -Native American poor in southwest USA where they are addicted to inhalants/spray paint

The second paragraph here excites me, and the first I am greatful for the compliments ... I'd love to do something like that... I'm running out the door at the moment (soon) to really reply to this as I'd like to... but I'll hit you up with a PM later, maybe with a voice recording .

Thanks hon,

Lexxi.

PS: Checking out MRI when I get home, sounds great

that would be awesome to get a voice recording from you. i am sure i could do something artistic with it in a song somewhere. if you notice in songs like Controlled Erotic Chaos I am venturing into the spoken-word experimental genre with the German Klang muss frei sein { Sound must be free } and the infomercial lady talking about not being responsible for damage to your hearing etc... ;p also there is the lesbian love scene at the end & we have a version that we're sending to David Lynch where you can hear what's going on a little more LOL . Anyway...you see how I am not just interested in MRI being a traditional band with traditional vocals all the time i want to push the envelope. btw is your avatar a still from I'm Not Here the Dylan-tribute flick w/ Cate Blanchett?

Here is the Mix Radio channel with some feedback already. If we ever use one of your recordings we can include it in the bio here as there are a lot of listeners; the indie movement is really taking hold in all aspects of new web 2.0 society fertilizer

Default The New Oxygen

THE NEW OXYGEN
© 2008 Daren Thomas Turner
© MRI Page Turner Publishing Ltd. All Rights Reserved

the whole thing started when i woke up late one day
a man came on the radio and said these words i say
he said "Son, can you believe the voices in your head?
it's easy
it's easy"

"You are a frequency and not a state of mind"
these are the sentences repeated every time
i drive down and visit all my local pharmacies
it's easy.
it's easy.

i can not think; i can not breathe-- this air is thin!
i even heard it on the News "There Is New Oxygen!
Down Way Beneath The Covers You Can Breathe
it's easy.
it's easy."

i am the only thing that i will ever be;
i am the only one who has to sleep with me.
Therefore, down way beneath the trampl-ing of feet
it's easy.
it's easy.

and then it ended so much faster than before
i didn't realize that the radio was off
"Settle down," i heard them say, "or cry yourself to sleep
we're easy
we're easy"

> Listen to The New Oxygen ( 8 minutes w/ 3 minute piano intro based on Chopin's Prelude in Cminor and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata ) We used an antique piano & we kept the creaks as well since the metallic tone of the old time instrument seemed fitting and looming large for the desired melancholic Phantom Of The Opera effect... We tried to produce this as close to George Martin circa Strawberry Fields Forever/Lennon/Beatles etc... you can hear echoes of this in the extended coda as the entire 8 minute track is one of those 'journey-epic-odyssey' songs. If you don't like long songs you will hate this for sure ;p

This song is about the over-medicating and over-pharmacification of the consumer public by American corporate pharmaceutical companies who market drugs with unknown side effects and or extended test periods with control groups. Additionally, it is about the death of the mom & pop drug store of my parents' era to chain conglomerates like Walgreens and CVS thus putting more nails into the coffin of the American dream.
