Measure Question (song)

I hope this is the right thread...I looked all around and it seemed to be the best one ^_^

What do you do, when you're writing a song, when you're writing in a '4/4' time signature, and you only have 2.25 beats in that measure, and you don't want anymore?

Don't add any more I guess. I'm not sure I totally understand the question. Are you talking about writing out musical notation or programming a sequencer or what?
