Our Vices Never Leave Us
Our Vices Never Leave Us
I woke up on a raft in a bottle of whiskey. I was sober but the girl next to me Was completely, pathetically smashed Inside and out. She had a cigarette hanging from her mouth Her tits fell out of her ripped up shirt And she had no pants on. I force-fed her pop psychology The best attempt at a fix I had. But I’m just a teenager And she’s got a death wish. No Dr. Phil mantra or rant of sympathy Will save her from the alcohol and cigarettes. So I put my tired, fatty arm around her And join her in a cigarette and a shot. That is love, isn’t it? Being willing to kill yourself with The person you care for. But I’m just an overemotional teenager in love She’s an alcoholic chain smoker In love with pills and a death wish.
