Default Airy vocals?

My voice gets really airy on high notes, makes me sound like a 12 year old. o_O Any idea how to fix this? I've tried pushing more air, but that just makes it loud and airy. Me and my friends are trying to make a band and I'm supposed to be the vocalist, but this is really messing me up.

I only sound good if I sing stuff by Radiohead. T.T The more volume I use, the worse I sound. If I yell or scream it sounds like crap. I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong or something that could fix this.

Even if I "used this to my advantage", it would be out of place in most music me and my friends want to make.

It's still a good sound though, what genre are you doing?

Rock, metal, etc.. Our guitarist has been practicing scream vocals, so I don't need to be able to scream, but I need to have more power in my voice.

Just sing like Lou Reed, and play punk/hardrock. Garage metal bands are iffy.
