Nothing More Than a Pidgeon
 

"If you hold my hand I'll hold your heart
And I promise I'll take good care of it for I've
Been watching it ever since we first met in the
Play ground." I guess it's good that my message
Never got transmitted because I'm picturing
The little smirk you give every time a
Pidgeon like me gives you a rose. But don't you
Think you could try loving a Pidgeon just this once?

I crumble up another piece of paper and watch
As you cast your fleeting glance in the direction
Of my friend, the Eagle. I guess I can't blame
You, a princess should always chase a prince,
But every prince I've ever known has been
So far from noble and I still have this
Corner in my heart reserved for you.

Your voice resounds through my ears every night
And it rings like a little Hummingbird,
The one who's nest I've looked after for the
Past couple of years in hopes that I'll be invited over
For lunch or for anything at all. If you would
Just invite me over I'll stay loyal to you like
A pidgeon always is to the one he cares about.

But I just throw away the paper and start to think
Of another message you would want to hear.
