Heal Me, You're Sick
Heal Me, You’re Sick
Lady Liberty ripped the chains from her feet, And from the pedestal, she ran like hell. Torch in the air, looking back in terror The water rusted her dying body. The flag jumped off it’s pole And like a carpet, it flew away. It could not take the spit on its stars That erupted from your lips. Freedom counts for nothing But illusion. Love counts for nothing But deception. Side by side, in an alley, we spew the contents of our hearts— Compassion for me, and hate for you. Look what you’ve done to this country; we’re militaristic drones, Either screaming at the enemy on our television screens, Or heading off to war. Like that town on fire, I’m dreaming of rain. Our ancestors might have been violent, but they knew when to revolt. When thousands die, while millions stay stagnant, that’s the ****ing time.

Great stuff. I like the second half quite a bit better than the first, though. I really like how you blend the literal and the figurative.
