Seconds and Minutes and Summers
I feel rude putting 2 posts up in a row for feedback but this is something so so different. My brother's written the music to it and it sounds damned awesome if you ask me - anyhow, this is about a girl, plain and simple. Very long but very effective when put to music, I think.
I can't make my mind up whether you were just a fling Or something ever so much more than that You caught it with a sting Take a breath and take you in and take you there and then Summer school and summer love I smile at you again Instrumental Laying on the grass with only you to think about It was wet but you were warm and I Could never catch you out Just the memory of staring in your eyes and you the same God knows why we liked to do it It was just our little game And everything was just a little game Sitting making small talk in the rain Did you ever think it would cause you pain, girl, did I ever cause you pain? Let it last Let it last now Let it last Let it last now Call me up After midnight Say you love Say you love me Campello and Watford always were so far away Far much more than you and Sheffield girl And further every day We were living in a false hope but it still made things seem right Just a quick talk I can't afford But I'll keep it up all night It'll keep me up all night I'll be talking to myself With my iPod trying to drown out This foreign faded hell Ten pound and a lifetime for pretending we could be Baby you were just like me You just wanted to be free But we didn't have the guts to do a thing about the love We just sat and planned it out Until we both had had enough And I daren't do anything And I daren't be anyone You're alone and I'm alone girl Seems it's not just you that's gone Still remember 10th September Rain was falling, You and I Standing outside On the pavement You killed it I let it die Either way we Rode a taxi To the station Didn't talk I got out You didn't flicker Didn't care to Watch me walk Take your memories Take your phonecalls Late at night The I love yous Take your heartache How you missed me Take your drugs, your ****s, Your booze Take the trouble That you caused me Take the nights I Wished I'd die You weren't worth a Single second You weren't worth a single lie Take the poems, take the songs, and all the times you sang to me Take the days sat On the grass When you kissed me So I can't breathe **** your wry smiles And your goodbyes And the I'll come up to meets You'll take me back when you can see how much I've changed since you left me And when you know I'm moving close you'll hold my hand, unburn my notes We'll take a long walk round your town, the one I've never been around And be content with who we are We'll know who we are Who were we then We'll know who we are Or we can pretend |
