Our Names Never Meet
Our names never meet
In rumours Nor are coupled with cartoonish hearts On the back of toilet doors Yet when I catch your fleeting glances They never fail to conjure up These wistful hopes That I could be your synonym Oh let me be your synonym I dream one day we'll be the scandal Your foreign looks, my native charm My name emblazoned for all time On the canvas of your upper arm Fleeting glances Conjure up Wistful hopes That I could be your synonym Oh let me be your synonym I could be your synonym Oh let me be your synonym For whatever you need Whatever you need Your synonym for Whatever you need For whatever you need Whatever you need Your synonym for Whatever you need

conjur < conjure? This was quite nice, I thought the ending couplet was rather mundane, though. It's in the title, you don't need it in the poem/song itself.

Or perhaps, "I want to be your synonym for..." and then nothing... would be better, as I was just putting sin in there to explain that I don't want to be a synonym of the person themselves but rather I want to be a part of their vocabulary. And yep, by conjur I meant conjure. Don't know why I thought it was spelt like that. |

Is that right? 'Spelt' is "a past tense and past participle of spell"* and I'm not sure how it's actually different to 'spelled'. Do you know?
*Spelt is also "a hardy wheat mostly grown in Europe". Never knew that. |

I like everything except for the; I want to be your synonym I want to be your synonym for sin Simply because you'll be amazed at how many people won't understand it, generally. |
