Wearing My Hat
Wearing my Hat
Something happened the other day, they called you on the phone. They wrapped me up in cotton wool and someone brought me home. The family came to see us, I recognised them all. They went out with such sad faces and whispered in the hall. You wept when you washed the dishes and did the other household chores. You said that you were tired but I think I know the cause. I'd started wearing my hat indoors. For a while we were together, you washed me in the bath. The soap, your hands, the water, made me want to laugh. But you screamed at me just yesterday when again my lap was wet. You told me your life was misery and you wished we'd never met. Later, saying you were sorry, you hugged me to your chest, but it had scared me when you shouted loud, I'd tried to do my best. You called somebody the other day and cried into the phone. The car came in the afternoon and took me away from home. It left me in this lonely place of iron beds and shiny floors. You seldom come to see me and I think I know the cause. I'd started wearing my hat indoors. |

The rhyming makes it go from an odd story to sounding cheesy and dumb.
