1.)
My half-sister, Lynn, fell in love with Tony Brown
On trial for fifteen homicides that happened near our town
She went to the courthouse every day to support him
Said she needed a backup: I attended only out of boredom
I thought she was nuts and tried to make her say
She understood that he’d be definitely put away.
Well he was found guilty and was waiting on death row
Yet they became engaged and for maid of honor, I said “No”

I am The Therapist with responsibilities
For helping folks with their lives
That can be a horror to me
Sometimes I understand and other times I don’t
Cause if haven’t been there
I might think it’s just a joke.

2.)
Momma had Alzheimer’s, stayed in an senior folks abode***
Started setting fires, so I had to bring her home***
My husband’s always golfing and I feel his neglect
One daughter was acting up and I felt such disrespect.
I sometimes couldn’t concentrate on what my clients said
Fantasizing of a man I met, who wanted to get me into bed
We‘d cuz Bob was in TV, so was there at Tony’s trial***
He offered me my own show, was sexy and I went into denial***

I might think it’s just a joke.

3.)
Lynn and Tony married in the jailhouse then she helped him to escape
Things were happening far too fast and I was so afraid.
My husband was still golfing. I had a date with Bob at a hotel
But first his wife had searched me down, with a story she had to tell.
Bob was an all time cheat, so I’d be just another notch
Tony killed my sister, came to me for money, another job he botched***
Momma nailed him from behind with a golf club and beat him black and blue****
The police arrived and I went crazy, as all good Therapists do

But now am on sabbatical
That is a horror to me
I now understand things that my clients spoke
I think I’ve learned an awful lot
And none of it’s a joke!
