My friend called today
He said 'way too long'
Since I talked to you
What did I do wrong?

Truth is I'm afraid
Of all that he might say
And all the wrong I've done
Taking every day.

Let me down

I'm hung out to dry

I confess to the rest
My short failings
And long winded mauling of truth
And attempts to deceive you
How can I plead
And make you believe
That the penance received
