I just read random lyrics and try and get inspired...which sometimes works.

A friend of mine (who is a published author) once said if you suffer from writers block then you are not a writer.

He also said make sure you write something everyday...anything.

Even if it`s no good you might be able to salvage something from it at a later date.

Listen to really sh*tty music or read bad poetry. Then be grateful you aren't that bad and write something.

i disagree with your friend, on the if you have writers block then you arent a writer. Many famous writers have had it, how can your friend even think that. But i agree on the write something everyday, that can later on become the best poem/whatever you've ever written.

I haven't had any inspiration lately. I have also been busy, I think I'm going to sit down and go back to some ideas I've had in the past. Might post one soon. It has seemed to die down in here too... we need revitilization.

Johnny from the Goo Goo Dolls had writer's block for over a year then he penned Iris in an afternoon, arguably their best song

That's actually really good advice, every good english teacher I've ever had (be it high school or university) has told me the same thing. As for the writer's block thing, depends what you mean by writers block. Most people define it as not being able to come up with anything that WORKS, as oppsed to not being able to come up with anything. If you're defining it in the first way, then it would be impossible to never suffer from writer's block.

Maybe sometimes it's just better to take a day off.

I am not an expert in lyrics creation (well, I don't exist in this domain ), but I do suffer from time to time from the what I call "designer's block". I create sites as my job and hobby and sometimes I just cannot be able to make something right. That's the moment I just lay off it for 1 day and do something else (play on the PC, post in forums) ... after some hours or a day I just get back to Photoshop and I seem to get my groove back ..
