Hi there everyone, I just registered and thought the best way to get to know some of you would be to post a song. Just as a little background I'm 17 and have been playing guitar for about 5 years and writing songs of all genres for as long as I can remember. For just about a year I've been on a songwriting forum of another site but I think it's time for me to get some new input so I thought I'd join you all. So have a look at my song and let me know what you think. All critiques are greatly appreciated.
[untitled] today I said goodbye to your picture in the afternoon I turned it into flames today I let go of all my redundant questions that were filling me with so much guilt and blame (chorus) my face traced with salty tears, I didn't care to hide I let go of all the heartbreak, I've tried so long to deny I rid myself of all the conflicts that've been dancing through my young and confused mind cuz in my memories, you'll always be alive life's only a lie today I wrote you a letter sealed it with one last kiss, placed it on your grave today I remembered all the crazy things we used to talk about but in that moment my thoughts couldn't be explained (chorus) my face traced with salty tears, I didn't care to hide I let go of all the heartbreak, I've tried so long to deny I rid myself of all the conflicts that've been dancing through my young and confused mind cuz in my memories, you'll always be alive life's only a lie today I heard from your mother she erased the last two years in a single day when she gave to me your lines of poetry that brought me back to what you used to say when your face is traced with salty tears, you shouldn't care to hide let go of all the heartbreak, you've tried so long to deny rid yourself of all the conflicts that've been dancing through your beautifully tortured mind cuz in your memories, I'll always be alive life's only a lie That's it. This one was inspired because a friend of mine ODed and died. His mom sent me a Christmas card with a poem he had written and said she'd like me to turn it into a song. So the chorus is his poem and I wrote the verses around that. |
