Jesus that depresses me.

In a strange, sad, comforting kinda way. Like a consolation of some kind.

Your a talented lad.

Sooner or Later (The Turtle Song)

This is way different from my other stuff. It's a little upbeat tune in the vein of Jack Johnson and the like. Nothing too deep, it's self explanatory. I hope you enjoy something from my less cynical side.

Sooner or Later (The Turtle Song)

I see my life in days and nights,
Like a flower in the field,
In the field like a chlorophyll soldier,
Blooming and stretching for the sun,
I'll catch that light and then I'll be done,
Beautiful in bloom and soon to wilt,
But I'm not really dying,
I'm livin' on here's a song to carry on,

Sooner or later we all grow older,
Standing in fields like chlorophyll soldiers,
Beautiful and dying.
We make the ground grow fertile,
and sooner or later we are food for a turtle.

And as I'm sitting in the grass,
Spreading myself until the sun has passed,
I know that I will never really be gone,
Constantly present in the lives of others,
My body and spirit creates my brothers,
Beautiful in bloom and soon to wilt,
Don't be sad and don't be crying,
I'm livin' on here's a song to carry on,

Sooner or later we all grow older,
Standing in fields like chlorophyll soldiers,
Beautiful and dying.
We make the ground grow fertile,
and sooner or later we are food for a turtle.

And as I'm walkin' on the road,
I see a flower and I just know,
That sitting in the field like a chlorophyll soldier,
Fighting for light until it gets older,
It'll be beautiful and wilting,
And just after tilting it will,
Yeah it will help the ground grow fertile,
and sooner or later be food for a turtle.

And so the story goes,
you'll never be gone.
Don't depress and don't you worry,
You'll be beautiful and wilting,
and help the ground grow fertile,
and sooner or later be food for a turtle.

I had to check out the American use of the word 'turtle' for this one, because in the UK it means 'sea turtle'... so now it makes more sense to me! I particularly like the phrase 'chlorophyll soldiers' and the rest of the song is very nice and bouncy too.

Yay for happy songs!

i like it, except for this part of the chorus, We make the ground grow fertile,
and sooner or later we are food for a turtle., it takes away the serious mood of the chorus away

Lol. So what are normal UK turtles called? I definitely went the nice and bouncy route. I looked back and most of my songs are awfully depressing - so I thought I'd go another route.

Zep - Taking away from the seriousness is the whole point! Like the phrase "Dont take life so seriously, you'll never get out of it alive"

Tortoise (which I pronounce 'torr-tuss' for the singular and 'torr-toyz' for the plural, although I think they're both spelt the same).

This made me wonder, what type were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Were they Tortoise? Or Terrapins? Or Sea Turtles? So many childhood images shattered!!!

I like it, happy songs are good.

*pointless comment*

i like this song... except the part that everyone else seems to have a problem with... the last line of the chorus...

i liked this song cuz it seemed more hopeful than anything (i say this cuz i think happy is a painfully bland way to describe something like this), and i liked the plant metaphor, cuz it made it seem really everlasting-ish, which was good, although i must admit i like your darker, danker stuff a bit better...

good stuff crowe... it would be perfect for one of those yeast infection treatment commercials (you think im joking but you know its true)

Calling all DRMOs

Hey, since Crowquill is out of the game for the time being, would you like to collab?

I would really like to see She Smiled for All of Us turned into a song. PM me or AIM me

PsychoDonkey

is my Sn, and we can talk about the various peculiarities of the song or whatever.

DontRunMeOver 08-04-2006 01:37 AM

Bump.

I'll think about how to make this into a song then.

EDIT : This is for me to refer back to later... I'm going to go for.

VERSE:

D - - - / Bm - - - / x4
Em - - - / A - - - /

CHORUS:

Bm - - - / G - - - / Bm - - - / G - - - / C#m - - - / F# - - - / Bm - - - / Bm - - - /

And I'm not sure what the section near the end will be yet.
