Hmm. Nick Cave eh? Well now I love him but I wonder if he'd be in your general boulevard of enjoyment. Most of his songs are quite dark and deal with violent themes (not all but a lot) and his early stuff can be quite chaotic. Personally, if you're gonna explore Cave I'd recommend a lantern on your helmet and a pickaxe, but if you're gonna explore the music of Nick Cave I'd go for
The Boatman's Call Henry's Dream The Good Son Murder Ballads And No More Shall We Part Let Love In then his more recent stuff like The Skeleton Tree Push the Sky Away (I have yet to listen to Ghosteen) Anything else might be a case of personal taste, but I'm still working on those. Also if you find you like Cave and aren't already familiar with him you might want to check out Tom Waits. Could be a shock though. Try Heartattack and Vine Blue Valentine Small Change to ease you in then go for Rain Dogs Swordfishtrombones and on from there

I can't add any depth to Trollheart's thorough advice (and I only know a few of his albums anyway) but since it's supremely beautiful a good song to start with may be

It's a funny thing about that/those albums - the two were released together and I really like The Lyre of Orpheus but found Abattoir Blues not so good. I think the former is all the slower, ballad-like songs which is probably why I like it better. I also found Dig, Lazarus, Dig! a big disappointment.

I don't really think that Nick Cave is really my cup of tea
Another band I'm really into right now (although I already mentioned that I like them) are the Bee Gees. I know that many people don't like them (or don't want to admit it) because there's the general thought that they only made disco music, that they were just a commercial product, etc. And although I've always liked the disco stuff and the early hit "To Love Somebody", I recently discovered many of their early songs and I really like them, being "I Started A Joke" my favourite one. I know many songs by them but never listened to a full album. Apart from that, I had no idea that 2 songs that I love, Woman in Love by Barbra Streisand and Heartbreaker by Dionne Warwick, had been written by them, so that has just made me have a more positive opinion. So my question was, what do youthink about the Bee Gees, and which album do you think is their best one. Edit: My favourite Bee Gees songs: New York Mining Disaster 1941 To Love Somebody I've Gotta Get A Message To You Massachussets Words I Started A Joke How Can You Mend A Broken Heart You Should Be Dancing Night Fever Stayin' Alive How Deep Is Your Love Too Much Heaven Tragedy Last edited by Eleanor Rigby 14; 05-31-2021 at 10:07 AM. |

"Massachusetts" for the win. Also check out Barry and Streisand on "Guilty", written the three Bee Gees.
Then there's "Emotion" made a hit by Samantha Song but also recorded by them in 1977
