Wishbone Ash is a very cool but lesser known classic rock band.

as My Mate Ash is just about to go on Hols for a week, will not fit in his case, you can use it for the week, but be warned I expect it back in good time for him on his return on Friday Evening UK time... without any harm done to it either..ok..

Hello again, I'm listening to all your suggestions, thanks for the last ones too.
Whenever I have enough time I'll tell you what do I think about them (most of them are really good).
Cheers!

Hey, Eleanor. I'm a Beatles' fan too.

Most of the bands mentioned I like a lot too but (and I missed some posts so if they've already been mentioned, please feel free to insult me )

The Seeds
Thirteenth Floor Elevators
The Left Banke
The Electric Prunes
Blues Magoos
The Young Rascals
The Standells
Jefferson Airplane (not the Starship- They're horrible)
Grateful Dead (or anything from late 60s San Francisco really)
Grapefruit

From the seventies...

Slade
King Crimson (if you like prog)
Sparks
Alice Cooper
Raspberries (Great power pop)
Badfinger (If you like the Beatles- second most succesful group from Apple)

And then there are the eighties

REM
Midnight Oil
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
The Smiths
The Pandoras

And more recently...

The Like
Ty Segall
Animal Collective
Beach House

Really a sixties fan though (and an old man )

I just jumped to the last page of the thread, so I might be repeating other people suggestions, but still

I think you could also check out:

Donovan

Janis Ian

Gram Parsons

Tim Buckley

Kaleidoscope

The Faces

Buffalo Springfield

Neil Young

Country Joe & The Fish

The Moody Blues

Gandalf

Love

The Who

The Grateful Dead

Ananda Shankar

Canned Heat

Paul Simon’s first album

Os Mutantes

David Bowie

Tamikrest

Tinariwen

The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band

Also (and this is coming from a Stones’ fanatic) maybe take another try at the Rolling Stones.

I’ve had that exact same situation with my girlfriend, that she came to love and appreciate pretty much all of the 60s/70s music I was showing her, but for some reason she really wasn’t into the Stones. But after a few tries, a couple of playlists, and a documentary she’s sometimes even more of a Stones fan than I am.

What albums did you listen to?
