If it's done well teaching a language is also teaching about literature and culture, silly.
My English teacher ruled, at some point she and I were just talking about books and chilling during class; if your English teacher is knowledgeable and enthusiastic they're not easily replaceable. Also, teaching one person a language is very different from handling a classroom full of teenagers.

That's not the point. Being mean isn't about being right. It's like smoking crack. It's terrible for you but once you start you don't want to do anything else.
