Since you fancy yourself some 60's hard rock, you'd probably enjoy Black Monk Time by The Monks. "Complication" is a good song to start with. Anti-war proto-punk feeds young minds.

Was gonna suggest that myself but I thought I'd given them enough.

I'm a Stones' fan. I like the fact they cover so much territory. Not only with music styles, but the mood of their songs. Some of their songs can be serious, sad, et cetera. It was those type of melancholy songs that drew to their music.
  • Ruby Tuesday
  • Sitting on a Fence
  • Backstreet Girl
  • Time Waits For No One
  • Wild Horses
  • Angie

edit: I thought this thread was in General Music
First of all, thank you very much for all the suggestions, I really like some of the bands you named, although i didn't write them on the list like: Yes, The Byrds, 10cc, ABBA and David Bowie. Of course, The Rolling Stones have some great songs, my favourite ones are: Angie, Wild horses, She's A Rainbow, Paint It Black and It's Only Rock N' Roll (But I like it). What I wanted to say is that, unlike the other artists I mentioned, I couldn't sit and listen to a whole Rolling Stones album. I think it's mainly because I've never liked Mick Jagger, his way of singing and specially his behaviour on stage or promo videos...The first thing I listened/saw from them was the music video of Start Me Up...It was a bit weird

Haven't heard much of him, but I love Heart OF Gold, it's a great tune. Also, Rockin' In The Free World is a good song. I'll listen more to his music. Thanks.

The Turtles

Savoy Brown

King Crimson
The Music Machine
Blind Faith

Thank you very much! I really like some of the musicians you mentioned, like David Bowie or Blind Faith (Eric Clapton is my favourite musician). I've listened to some stuff from Black Sabbath, and they seem cool, but a just a little bit too dark for me. From Blue Óyster Cult, I've only heard (Don't Fear) The Reaper, so I'll find more stuff from them. The only thing I know 'bout J.J. Cale is that he wrote Cocaine. The Doors are strange (never liked them a lot), but I love Break On Through (To The Other Side). Lynyrd Skynyrd are just too overplayed by Spanish radio stations, but they're good. Also, it was sad to find out that Since I've Been Loving You, my favourite Led Zeppelin song, was plagiarised from Never by Moby Grape...I guess it was Jimmy's common habit.
Anyway, I'll listen to the rest of the artists that are still unkown to me. Have a nice day.

I forgot to mention The Allman Brothers Band, I love them. Too sad Duane passed away that soon. What a good guitarist!

By the way, it is true that I'm a girl. I don't play the guitar (mainly becuase I don't have one), but I'd love to start learning one day.

Also, the Velvet Underground are not on your list so in case you're not familiar with them:

edit: Charles stealing my rec like a ninja
Thanks! From The Zombies I've listened to She's Not There, and they seem to be a good band. As for The Velvet Underground, I've heard Lou Reed claiming that The Beatles were rubbish...But I still love The Who after finding out that Pete Townshend hated The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. So I'll listen to the Velvet Underground too.
P.S: Sorry, but what does "getting a rec from me" mean?

OK, never heard about them. Thanks!

can we take this to another thread though? let's just keep this one for the recs, the poor kid doesn't need our arguing
You can argue as much as you want! It's fun, I've never had a discussion about music before.

1. I don't remember any gender being given.

2. Don't be so condescending. Kids can listen to plenty of out there ****.

It's one song on the whole album. You don't need to be a jaded 30-something with a pickled liver to bop to "Ghost Rider".

I read the list, I figured the kid may enjoy it. No snobbiness was intended.

You go from the baby pool to the shallow end to the deep end before you seem in shark infested waters during a hurricane.
