^ Yes, I saw a clip of theirs on Youtube and, not expecting very much, was surprised at how good they were. I was lucky enough to see Beefheart twice; first time brilliant, second time patchy if truth be told.

What year did you see Soft Machine in? Also re: less nauseating direction, you do know what a soft machine is right ?
That's easy to date because I was actually at one of the recording locations for Soft Machine Six ( https://www.allmusic.com/album/six-mw0000180049 ), so that makes it Oct or Nov 1972.

I know the name comes, like Steely Dan, from William Burroughs, so I can make a reluctant guess I suppose!

Wish I'd seen all of those bands. Had tickets to see Floyd on the Animal's tour and I FFFFFFFFFFstupidly gave them away.

Stupidly knows no bounds.

Yes, London in the seventies was crazy with great bands. Dylan was promoting Street Legal when I saw him, Neil Young with a huge repertoire did two sets; one of quiet solo material, the second blasting away with (I presume) Crazy Horse.
I also saw Floyd, Genesis and Grateful Dead, but don't remember those concerts today...

I had the chance to see a French Canadian tribute band called The Musical Box recreated Genesis' Foxtrot and Selling England by the Pound tour. I never pay any attention to who touring, so I haven't seen many concerts. I feel extremely lucky I got a chance to see them even if there are a tribute band. I had goosebumps all throughout the concert.

A bunch of excerpts spliced together.
