There's examples of that riff dating back even longer. It's even been used in old classical compositions.
Sure that sounds similar to Spirit, but you must admit Taurus sounds almost exactly the same as Stairway............

I personally don't care if 10 % of the song was a rip off it is nothing without the other 90% that goes with it................

Page was a big fan of Graham and guys like Bert Jansch. If anything he heard Taurus and it reminded him of the Graham song. Biggest difference between Taurus and and Stairway is the counterpoint high notes.

Taurus has the descending bass notes but with a static upper note. Page uses counterpoint ascending high notes against the descending bass notes.

But yeah, there's enough there to cause a debate but I agree with you. Much to do about nothing in the grand scheme of both songs.

I'm certain there's tons of new music being downloaded way more than Zeppelin. This is all about the format.

Read an article yesterday that predicts Swift's latest may be the last true platinum release.

'60s to the 80s ruled sales of vinyl and CDs, today's digital downloads and music streaming have changed the industry. I find it intriguing to see an absolute rock and roll classic rock album out performing a teenage pop star, even if only for a couple of day.

Young music fans simply aren't interested in buying entire albums anymore because Pop has traditionally focused more on singles in the digital era.

The results of physical sales across the nation as well as download totals.

Sounds a little intetesting.

I'm not sure if it's the fans or a movement away from the album format. I'm leaning towards the latter, especially in terms of popular music with things like different producers and features being more common on those albums.

Question

I peraonally consider Led Zeppelin as being the most influential band of all time.

What, or any other bands would you suggest influence today's modern music more than Led Zeppelin?

And why?
