I think Led Zeppelin is just as relevant today as the 70s. So many people I know go through the Led Zeppelin phase, and then they outgrow it because they think they know everything there is to know about them and it's all Stairway to Heaven.

I don't listen as much as I used to. You have to find the right mood but there's a song for everyone. I only listen to Led Zeppelin II that I got the CD of, because I put it in my CD collection. But there's so many more classics. I would hunt down the vinyls.

Owned every single one of the original releases.

Re: No Quarter

Ever notice how weird the vocals and drums sound? During the final mix Page decided to slow the track down a quarter step to help give it that murky dark vibe.

Probably my all time favorite live Page solos are the ones he did during No Quarter.

Yes, and the sound of Bohnam's squeaking drum peddle can still be heard on Since I've Been loving because it wasn't edited out in post-production.

this is the best thread

The original Japanese 45 single of Immigrant Song had this on the B-side.

Wpnfire 09-01-2017 06:40 PM

Not sure how unpopular this opinion is, but from the very limited material I've heard from this band, I like their blues songs much better than their rock stuff.

This one came on the radio when I was driving home from work tonight, and it was extremely appropriate.

The Batlord 09-01-2017 06:51 PM

Their blues **** is ****.

Wpnfire 09-01-2017 06:57 PM

Are you trolling or what?

The Batlord 09-01-2017 07:04 PM

No, I can't ****ing stand almost anything Led Zeppelin does that isn't rock. They make dull, tedious, white boy blues that goes on for ****ing ever.

Nah he just doesn't like blues or doesn't grasp how rock is an extension of blues.

The Batlord 09-01-2017 07:08 PM

I have no problem with blues. I have a problem with Led Zeppelin being hot garbage at it.

The Batlord 09-01-2017 07:08 PM

nb4 Chula makes a post about the 70s

Matthew21 09-27-2017 04:44 PM

During my depressive times. I've found out something interesting. Some problem's can only be solved by a good dose of Led Zeppelin.

How many more times are we going to have to go over this?

Lisnaholic 12-06-2017 06:09 AM

I thought this was a fun idea, although tbh, we don't need ten minutes of it really:-

Inexplicably, the organisers totally invalidate their own experiment before it begins by announcing that "many people consider LZ to be one of the greatest bands of all time." That's about as impartial as a judge telling a jury, "You have to decide about this man that many people consider innocent."
Even so, it's worth watching, if only to see Chula as an eight-year-old in a little blue t-shirt.

There is a scene in the HBO series Vinyl (only one season - it was okay) that has Led Zeppelin in it. The actor who played Robert Plant was pretty decent, I thought.

Happy to be guilty as charged. :tramp:

Paul Smeenus 12-19-2017 09:44 AM

This was the show I saw for five bucks:

Memorial Coliseum (Portland) - June 17, 1972 / Portland | Led Zeppelin Official Website

rubber soul 12-19-2017 09:55 AM

You must be older than me, Paul. I didn't get to see Zeppelin until 1977.

I was 14 in '72

rubber soul 12-19-2017 10:05 AM

You're four years older than me. I was 15 at my Zeppelin Concert (Capital Center- Landover, MD)

lol I caught that too, it's Portland, can't have high expectations...

OccultHawk 12-19-2017 11:30 AM

It’s cool to put “the” in front of bands that don’t usually have them

Quote:

medley incl. Let That Boy Boogie, Boppin' the Blues, Hello Mary Lou, Going Down Slow
Those medleys sucked the ding dong btw

Paul Smeenus 12-19-2017 12:30 PM

I don't remember the medley (it was 45 years ago after all), but I will say that Zep was the best show I'd ever seen at that time, until Jethro Tull utterly blew my mind summer of 1975, to this day the greatest show I've ever seen.

Chula Vista 12-19-2017 01:01 PM

Boy did those two bands hate each other.

Frownland 12-19-2017 01:02 PM

Seems like everyone hated Tull, were they huge dicks or something?

Ian Anderson? Pretty much.

Frownland 12-19-2017 01:10 PM

Makes sense, seems to be typical for a frontman with an ever-changing band supporting him.

Chula Vista 12-19-2017 01:15 PM

Dude wrote some killer lyrics though:

Quote:

Really don't mind if you sit this one out
My word's but a whisper your deafness a shout
I may make you feel but I can't make you think
Your sperm's in the gutter your love's in the sink

OccultHawk 12-19-2017 01:16 PM

I did see The Jethro Tull live and it was great. No bitch ass rockabilly medleys.
